We love chorus. There, we said it. But where exactly you put your chorus pedal in your signal chain can make a BIG difference in how your guitar sounds. So we wanted to do a video comparing the tone of a chorus pedal at different places in the signal chain to hear what the differences are.

Where do you put your chorus in your signal chain? Do you use chorus at all?

The "text books" are right. I have always put overdrive etc. first. You don't want it amplifying all the hiss and noise caused by chorus and delay that would otherwise be pumped into it, especially with the quadrant which I sold because of the noise.

Does it make any sense to set each pedal controls individually before linking them together in your chain?Example chain of Chorus-Overdrive-Delay. I have heard said that when connected together in a chain they interact with each other so some final tweaking of the controls might be needed.

With my 3-string cigarbox style setup (but via strat as well as acoustic), chorus is ALWAYS on for fullness BUT I have one before light drive and one after delay/verb, getting a combination of Sonic Youth and Cocteau Twins tones. I also use an EQD organizer for octave pad early and my first chorus is also a flanger. This set up is specific to my rhythm board. I also have a chorus on my lead board in standard position but optional amidst univibe and rotary leaning into Kim Thayil type tones.

Chorus has always been 1 of my faves for guitar. I often put it in with some delay n reverb too.

I think chorus BEHIND delay sounds much better. For that reason, I like it almost last in the chain. Just before reverb.

ok this all might sound crazy since I'm building an effects board for my ukulele, but it sounds pretty cool to throw some effects on my uke, here is how i have it tell me what you think, first my wha/vol pedal then my octave then distortion, then my flange, then chorus and last my delay ? thoughts ?

I got my Boss CE-2 in 1980. I turned it on. I left it on all the time. I turned it off sometime in 1989. I never used chorus again. Must sell vintage 0000 CE-2. 👍😁👍

I’ve just put UniVibe, Phase 90 and stereo chorus before drive. The effects sounded horrible after drive. When I moved them, suddenly I got more top end and could use them with drive. My Leslie sim (Ventilator) is last on my board as I run it in stereo, so it sounds best after my Belle Epoch.
