There was a point in time where I thought eventually Kobe would score a 100 points. It really wasn't far-fetched considering that he had a 55pt half during his and he torched the Mavs for 62pts in three quarters a few months prior to him scoring 81pts. Kobe had some stretches where he was just performing like a maniac, those scoring streaks of 40 points or more was simply incredible.

People, especially other players, say Jordan probably would’ve averaged something like 50 points a game if he played in today’s league. I truly believe Kobe would’ve been close to that, too. I know people have a lot of stats to say Lebron is better than Kobe, but having grown up watching Kobe and then watching Lebron come in, too, I don’t see Lebron as the better player at all. He’s amazing, but Kobe was on a level-and it’s like he was the last, or among the last, of the harder generation of players. The ones where you can say, if they played in today’s league, they’d have had no equal. Put prime Lebron against prime Kobe, I don’t see Lebron coming out on top in any world. And I am biased, I know, but I truly cannot see it.

Started watching basketball in the early 2000’s and Shaq + Kobe are the most dominant players I’ve ever seen. They would absolutely demoralize teams in different ways; Kobe was mental and strategical, and Shaq was through brute force and the way he would overpower his opponents. Even Shaq in the late 2000’s, when he was almost 40, torched Chris Bosh and his raptors for 45 points and the guy could barely move at that point. KB willing the lakers to the 2013 playoffs playing 40-45 minutes a night in his 30’s was so gutsy it really exemplified him as a player.
