My only guess as to why he pronounced it as Dai-o is because it's liko ohio (oh-hai-o) and chris being chris doesn't understand that just because the last two letters are same doesn't mean it's pronounced the same. That or maybe there were animes that chris watched where a name or location ended in io but pronounced as ai-o, and chris just assumes every japanese thing ending in io is pronounced as that.
