Sonic changed to 3d tho so with the extra perspective, blue arms can actually work just as well.

I have a theory why Chris got so upset about Sonic's blue arms. Sonichu is based on Sonic and if Sonic has blue arms, that means he'll have to change Sonichu's arms to yellow. He absolutely didn't want to do that. Similar to when Pokémon added gender differences to Pikachu and then people pointed out that Rosechu had a male tail. Chris felt like he needed to go back and edit Rosechu's tail. This time, it would be too much work for him to recolor Sonichu's arms, so instead, he thought it would be better to convince Sega to "fix" Sonic's arms.

I think Chris’ tirade was more about exerting his own ego than some naïve nostalgia-driven crusade. He’s always been someone who behaves although the world revolves around him and so when something changed that he disapproved of, like with MLP gen 5, he fights tooth and nail to make it so that everything remains on his terms.

Another thing about Chris that eats me up is how he acts as though he own a certain franchise IP like Sonic and MLP. Everyone can clear tell that when he merged Sonic and Pikachu to form Sonichu, he thinks he owns the character rights when he can't make Sonichu into a legitimate franchise because even in my very first video on him back Christmas Eve of 2018 that Sonichu should've stayed as a piece of fan art that he created WAY BACK from his long bygone high school days in the 12th grade and not try to make it like should be some real thing. Chris never seem to understand copyright. Merging two pre-existing characters from two unrelated video game properties don't constitute as fully copyrighted. Making money off Sonichu should've caused a lot of legal issues between him, Sega and Nintendo. As fan art or a butt numbing poorly drawn web comic for funsies, sure. But for money munching off of Sega and Nintendo with his abhorrent OC for the world online? Not a chance in the world. When Sonic Boom was announced then released, he was very offended by the whole Blue Arm or Blarms thing which in itself was childish and lame. The only person who could petition against it towards Sega was Chris himself. Nobody really didn't give a rat if he wanted the protest against Sega for making Sonic's arms being a different color. We all knew, even in retrospect, what was going to happen in the end. The protest, even a one-man protest, would only end up being destined to fail and result him to get locked up. When the live action movie was announced and pushed back to 2020 so the filmmakers would redesign Sonic's movie look from his abhorrent prior look to the more Hollywood faithful look we know now, and by the time the movie did come out prior to The Big V in February, he admitted on X (formerly Twitter) that he enjoyed the movie but still, even then, hates the blue arms on Movie Sonic. Oh how the quisanct hedderact (thanks Linkara) of irony amuses the world!

The reason Sonic has blue arms in Boom and the movies is that essentially as a proper 3D animated character, he needed shoulders instead of the flesh tubes sticking out of an orb that his body is in the game in order for the animations to not look weird. And if he has shoulders, tan arms look really weird, so they're blue.

The explanation for Chris' behaviour here is quite simple. Autistic people tend to not like change, and tend to become obsessed with minutiae, particularly when it relates to one of their special interests. In most cases socialisation and professional help to understand that change is an inevitable part of the world (and strategies to deal with it) allow autistic people to handle change better. Unfortunately we know that Chris was not properly socialised and had parents who actively prevented him receiving the sort of professional help he needed thus he isn't able to manage his emotional response to change with the results we see.

No, having witnessed the KZbin Sonic fandom over the years, making a fuss over his arm colour is the kind of thing you'd expect from some of these guys (and from my recollection, Chris wasn't even alone in this complaint, though most were more focused on the character proportions and those weird sort of bandages). The ridiculous part IMO is the lengths Chris went to to make his point. Most people with complaints like this would have just made a KZbin video or forum post whining about it and leave it at that.

Speaking of which, I think it's a real shame that the Sonic fandom tends to get a lot of hate and/or negative attention, especially since I believe that the true fans are the ones who are supposed to be supportive, loyal, and appreciative no matter what happens. And to be honest, my primarily reason for becoming a Sonic fan was because I like the anthropormorphic animal characters of the franchise that have always appealed to me, and there are hardly any other modern game franchises with those types of characters like that to enjoy (at least, none others that I can think of on my own), and I'm kinda curious to know of any other fandoms with anthro/furry characters I can enjoy without anyone else making a fuss.

As an autistic Power Rangers fan who is now well into the 30s club since 2022 but hadn't made any new content since 2023 due to a major life change and other issues, I can somewhat relate to the difficulty of change with the brand. After Power Rangers In Space ended and when Lost Galaxy happened now 25 years ago (as of 2024), I did have some IRL difficulties with the franchise going forward as a age 6-7 kid in '99 until the conclusion of the mainstream show with Cosmic Fury not so long ago in 2023 at 30-31 but last year was very, very sad and hopeless for me. In the years since let's say the Disney Era of Power Rangers back in the 2000s, I did as I grew older started to appreciate the seasons for what they did good as well as bad at that time and some of the things still stood with me even rewatching. The last 12 years of Power Rangers - when on Nickelodeon since Samurai and Megaforce - were painful as I was well into grown ass man territory during those shows and I probably should have been more invested in adult content and shows than still whine, bitch and complain about why the quality of the show went as it did. Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury were not my cup of tea, but I see why it happened. Hasbro, the current owner of PR, made clear after Dino/Cosmic Fury, the main show would conclude by the 30th anniversary and a Reboot series for Netflix will commence very soon. However, At 31, I felt as though once the original incarnation of Power Rangers stops, I would no longer keep going as it was time for my grown ass to grow the f up. Chris's obsession with Sonic on the other hand is what killed my fandom for not just the character but the entire franchise. And looking back on how he crazily vented about the Blue Ar- err... Blarms 10 years earlier, it's a clear indication he didn't give a flying fuck if Boom was non-canon to the mainstream Sonic games. It was not supposed too. Even the live action movies since 2020 recently is also non-canon to the main games even the LA movies have a blue arm Sonic and it was successful unlike Boom, which the game (although haven't played it) was a failure but the TV cartoon was just okay. Nothing groundbreaking or anything.

I find it funny how even though Chris so adamantly hated Sonic having blue arms, whenever he was asked exactly why it bothered him so much, Chris couldn't think of a good reason other than just repeating that they "aren't blue" or that he didn't like it. Even in a phone call when he was asked on it, Chris only said "eh... just too much". But then again, in Chris's worldview, that's all the reason he needs to wage war against something: not liking it.
