I just changed half of the oil to melted butter and added 2 ounces of melted dark chocolate, both fir flavor enhancement. Its a beautiful recipe, not too sweet, delicious and fool-proof! I already tried at least 6 other chocolate cake recipes, but this is the one. Its not too dense, rich, sweet, greasy, bitter, crumbly, complicated, expensive or time consuming. Great job, Chris!!

Besides the hint of olive oil of the finished product, it's one of the most perfect cake I've ever had! The cake itself really is reasy to make, but the topping took a lot of time of effort and time for me. The whole thing took about 3 hours but it was well worth it! So light and fluffy!

I've searched far and wide online for different chocolate cake recipes but almost always end up choosing to make this one instead again and again. Would actually be good to make a massive batch of the dry stuff and keep it in an airtight container, and then figure out the wet ingredient proportion. E.g. 2 cups of dry needs + 1 egg + 1/2 cup of veg oil and milk. And then just adjust depending on the amount of batter you want to make. Someone grab a calculator!

I've made this cake about 10 times now. I followed the instructions on the website and it's such an interesting method. I have to admit that I halve the amount of sugar and the cake doesn't miss anything. It's really moist (I hate that word) and chocolaty and it stays moist for about a week (could be longer but it's never lasted longer than that in my house)

I made this cake as soon as I could after watching the video. Don’t worry about sifting the cocoa. Just break it up with your whisk. I wanted the cake to have more chocolate flavor, but I can adjust the cocoa to my taste. The frosting was sublime and the whole thing was super easy.
