This just flew by. That’s a shame about the crumhorn, a mystery. Great interview with Chris. I think I finally understand the Denis Haines situation a bit. Denis did add something wonderful to the sound. I know Gary would probably never do it but it’d be nice if Gary and Chris would record some songs involving Chris’s ancient instruments. Nice about the success with the Cherry Red release for Dramatis. Rrussell and Chris have got magic music by themselves. Going to listen to Cedric’s track now, ‘Face On The Wall.’ Honfleur is a place in France associated with Erik Satie. I suppose that fact’s not lost on Chris.

Good to hear, pleased too that they met up to reminisce before Cedric left us, what a blow that must of been.

Enjoyable interview, particularly the inside account on Denis/Francis Haines. A subject rarely discussed with the switch to Roger Mason followed by a returning DH. It would be interesting to hear the reasons for the sacking and re-employment, I never knew about the beggars recommendation due to The Doll.

Lovely chat. Always so generous and affable is Chris. Shame they ended on Wembley. Numan had the perfect set up. And he was, as Chris mentioned and all of us as fans, were so acutely aware that Gary was at that pinnacle. And what he should have done was a Kate Bush, take some time, and then come back when he was ready with his next move. Imagine his world status, it would have been an epic onward success. Chris like that line-up were all such unique individuals. I was devastated after that show going home. And I watched that tour on tape for years. Best concert for me but sadly it was over. Many others did the same, its youth and wonder. I always felt Japan did it too. Chris is a real talent though, probably has great friendships and decent and exciting working collaborations. Nice hearing about Cedric and his flat in Ealing, very close to where I live now. I remember Gary buying the Coffee Pot in Isleworth. A brief acquisition I think?

Dross like Warriors turned people off, look at that album cover and the music is terrible. Wembley didn't end his career.

@@johnryder8464 'Dross'? Musically it's arguably his most accomplished album, there's is some seriously heavy duty musicianship on it. Have you actually listened to it? It's way beyond the 'electro goth' stuff he's churning out for the kiddies now.

Really enjoyed that interview. But when Steve Strange turned Chris away at The Blitz Club all those years ago, why didn’t he just tell Steve that he was turning away the writer of “Fade To Grey” ?!

No mystery with the crumhorn really. The mic picked it up as background noise and the noise cancellation filtered it into Nirwana.
