I lost my first-born son about 18 years ago now ... and I understand that lyric: "Missing you comes in waves ...." Although it's been such a long time ago, and my grief is not as intense, I still have times when the loss feels pretty raw. Memories of him are bittersweet now, rather than just painful. God bless anyone who has suffered the pain of losing a loved one.

my little dog i grew up with died last fall, and she was my best friend... I miss my best friend. I really wasn't ready for it. And right now, she should be laying on me instead of my laptop. I love your reaction, it's very telling how much emotion you have.

Really enjoyed your reaction. Losing anyone close never leaves you, never. Country music can be difficult to listen to, it can break you sometimes. Peace from Northern Michigan.

I've lost many people in my life. I lost both of my dad's parents, a young friend that was diagnosed with cancer, a few uncles, and my mother.

My cousin/best friend passed away a little over 5 years ago. After she passed my aunt and I went to a grief support group that really helped. One thing they said was there comes a time when you have to go back to living, and it feels heart breaking to see life going on around you. But the pastor that did the support group said that you have to push through the day, but sometimes you need to lean into the grief... kind of like him saying he pulled out old pictures. I still call my cousins number from time to time. My aunt and uncle left it active. I lost my grandma lats year and have about 10-11 voicemails with her voice that I refuse to delete them!

I love this song but it hits me hard when I hear it. Makes me miss my best friend that's been gone 5 years. Chris co wrote this song as a tribute to a friend of his that died in a car accident.

The story behind the music video, right after he released the song, the concert (maybe more than one) after he told fans that if they wanted to be involved in a music video to bring a picture of a loved one they lost

Big hugs to you, Lyle!! I had never heard of that song until today. Because I work at a funeral home and make dvds, this song was requested on a DVD. I did not take the time to listen to it all the way through. Wow! Yes, very true! Grief comes like waves. Sometimes small, sometimes knocks you down, sometimes you feel like you are drowning. Thanks for this reaction. 🙏🙏💜🎶

I knew this would strike you, I have my own personal connection to this song, and not just for the loved ones who lived a long life. I don't mind hearing songs that remind me to remember, and I'm glad you were okay with this song. Thanks Lyle. God bless
