Blade's comics have always been R rated like the Punisher, and this is before the first Blade movie. You can go all the way back to the Rise of The Midnight Sons and The Knightstalkers, and see that those comics were never PG-13 material. It wasn't a coincidence that they made the Blade movies R rated or they took a gamble and made them R rated. They had to do it to remain true to his character and his world building. I regret I never saw the Blade movies in theaters in the 1990s. I missed the first one, and by the time the Blade 2 came out, the first one was still expensive to buy or rent at Blockbuster, and I refused to see the sequel before the first one. Than by the time 3 came out, I had lost interest, and also The Matrix had come out, not just blowing away everyone's mind but making the FX of every and any sci-fi/sci-horror movies out at the time look dated, corny and cringe. (The Matrix made Star Wars Episode One look dated and corny.) So this year I finally, finally watched all three, bringing back good memories of the late 1990s. Not gonna lie, the sfx of all of them did NOT age well at all, but I still enjoyed them, mostly for nostalgia.

Chris, you should check "Cronos" it's the first interaction between del Toro and Perlman, another take in the vampire myth, goes well with the season!

I have been WAITING for this!

My favorite time of year as well and it’s a tradition to watch films, tv shows, and anime that exemplify the spooky season. 🎃🍂 Also, definitely a missed opportunity not having Wesley and Donnie throw hands. That’s like putting Jackie Chan and Jet Li in a film and they just share the screen.

I remember back in the day loving blade 2 for having donnie yen in it whilst simultaneously being appalled at how underused he was in the movie lol, great film though.

I love Mahershala Ali, I think he will do great as Blade and would've been cool if Wesley Snipes do a cameo for MCU's Blade

@@JaySewani a pg 13 blade movie from disney?? Its gonna suck this is not hating it is stating the obvious
@Erasureeraser3 жыл бұрын
@@davidhero1000 who Mahershala as Blade? Eh, I'm careful with the word "suck" and "miscast" when it comes to actors being cast for a role cuz i remember when Heath Ledger, Robert Pattinson, and Daniel Craig got hated when they're cast as Joker, Batman, and Bond. I'm gonna give Mahershala a chance before even hating on him. But for a PG13 Blade, yeah that's a let down. Nevertheless I wanna see Mahershala as the character tho

I watched all the blade movies this year for the first time ever. I love all of these movies.

Er, del Toro hired Ron Perlman nearly a decade prior to this for Chronos, so he was already well aware of him and what he can do.

Happy October, Chris. I'd love to hear what you think of The Crow: City of Angels and the hellish post-production that went down (thanks to Harvey Weinstein cutting over half the footage from it).

As great as the first Blade was I thought Blade II was a rare superior sequel. Chris, you should do long overdue reviews on Fright Night (1985) and House (1986).

People want that Venom 2 review. They're waiting to hear you call it a "turd in the wind" like the guy on Flick Picks did. 🤔 *"NUFF SAID"™*

It just feels wrong wanting to hear about venom after talking about Blade. Yea I know, its petty lol

Not gonna happen. He doesn’t do reviews with criticism any more since he got his directing gig. I completely understand why, as well. So, if there isn’t a movie review from him, you know he doesn’t like it.

Hey Chris! Just a recommendation, check out del Toro’s debut feature Cronos! Its subject matter is somewhat related to Blade and Ron Perlman is in that one as well, they’ve been collaborating since the early 90’s. Give it a watch, it’s an interesting take on the lore.

Cronos for me is a little tragic in the third act but it's an incredible film.
