Eight Legged Freaks is a treasure. Truly, I do miss the popcorn flick that IS a popcorn flick on purpose. The last truly great example I recall seeing was Shaun Of The Dead, which I gave high marks for confronting and satirizing a few serious domestic issues amidst a zombie apocalypse, and STILL not losing that crazy sense of humor. Truly, film like this just improves with time.

The closest thing we got to Eight Legged Freaks this year is Malignant and it's considered polarizing but in my opinion I enjoyed the s*** out of that film
@jordanpeakofficial3 жыл бұрын
I was just about to make this comment but scanned through to see if anyone else did first. Malignant is most definitely the biggest budget horror comedy thats been made for a few years. I think its just a really, really hard sub genre to make i mean scaring someone and making someone laugh are the two total opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of emotions. Theres also the challenge of marketing the product to an audience and most people would want to see one that makes them laugh or the other that makes them poop their pants rather than a movie that does both. It doesn’t surprise me that out of the cornetto trilogy of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost’s films that the highest grossing was an action comedy (hot fuzz 80 mill) and the other two which blended elements of horror and comedy didn’t make as much (shaun of the dead 30 mill the world’s end 46 mill)
