Info only, they did use the WoW engine; they made the movie, then asked WoW if it was okay. They were invited to Blizzard's HQ, where the CEO of Blizzard watched it, then, tears in his eyes, agreed that they could have the license to use the engine for the movie.

I just watched this today, it was really good. While I had some close friends in real life, I remember having arguments with my parents where they would tell me my online friends weren't real friends, like they weren't even real people, and similar to what happened to one of Mats' friends my parents at one point took away the router to try and get me to spend more time offline. It was rough being separated from people that I had formed very real relationships with. I liked your thoughts on there often being a reason or circumstance behind people being nasty online, and encouraging understanding and compassion and acknowledgment that there's a real person behind them.

The CGI made for the movie is how WoW looks, though the characters are more expressive in the movie than they are in the game.
