Hello friend! I'm German and I love drinking beer. Unfortunately, over the last few years, our small pubs have been gradually disappearing. I just wanted to let you know that I drink a few beers and toast with you every time you show. Greetings from Germany and Merry Christmas my friend! Ingo

Leeds is my town of birth, but I left the country in my early twenties. Three pubs encapsute my wonderful Leeds experience. The Forde green. In the heart of Harehills. A rough and ready pub that was my go to. The White Stag on the outskirts of the city in the direction of Harehills. A proper Irish pub with great beer and live music. And lastly the fathasum. A uni pub at the time with a great beer garden. Don't know if any are still around ❤

Lived in Leeds all my life. Been in the Templar and Duck & Drake before... but not the others. For people who don't know Leeds, all those pubs are within 5/10 mins walk of each other. Leeds is not a big a city centre as some might think. Templar is the only one slightly out of the way of the others, being towards the top end of town, but not a big drag.

I used to live in Leeds many a year ago now live in Thailand for the past 20 years. The Duck & Drake use to be a Tmothy Taylors pub or at least had the best Landlord on tap. It does look like it’s not changed much. The Templars was a Tetley’s pub and I saw they still have it on tap. The Flag & Lamb was definitely called something else back then and I think a free house. The Head of Steam was called the Scarborough Arms perhaps because the rail line to Scarborough was just opposite. Thanks for a walk around Leeds centre, can see not too much has changed except the prices, when I was last there pints were £1.85 to £2.30. Cheers 👍

@queenie70320 күн бұрын
The other head of steam is ok, but not as good as the one you went to - it feels a bit more of a ‘normie’ bar and attracts a lot of cocktail/gin drinkers, it can get very loud with people getting drunk rather than people enjoying a drink if that makes sense! Would it be better to visit pubs during busier times so we can get an idea of the atmosphere of the places ? Personally i would never go to pubs on weekday afternoons as they are too quiet so whats the point paying 5x as much as what you would pay in a supermarket? Also the beers havent been turning over at quiet periods so half your pint has probably been sitting in the pipe since the day before.

Time may have stood still here, but Whitelock's hosts an ever-changing array of gorgeous ales.”
