whats wild is I was thinking about this exact scenario the other day. 2011, back in HS, Skyrim just came out, winter break. Cold and snowing outside with Xmas approaching. Just exploring the game without a worry in the world. Great times. Better times.

This hits like a truck... nostalgia is a powerful drug. 2011, we came off the back of two really cold winters in 09 and 10 so I didn't plan too much in the holidays. Skyrim was it. Fallout 3's atmosphere was awesome; dark, threatening, hopeless. Skyrim was the first game where I genuinely just stopped on top of a mountain or by a stream and took it all in and thought...wow, with this soundtrack adding to that sense of wonder and adventure. It really took you there. Pure escapism.

My dad bought me 360 skyrim before that winter break while I was in middle school. It fundamentally changed the way I viewed the potential of games as an art form, and the specific atmosphere and story of skyrim brought me immense comfort and inspiration.
