When it was released, Chronicle was actually surprisingly successful. To the point where there were articles written about it in papers. Admittedly it was mostly because the studios didn't expect it to do well so they released it on Superbowl Weekend to die, but instead it pulled in almost twice its production budget over the course of its opening weekend. It was also reviewed relatively well. Most critics at the time gave it pretty positive reviews.

So many scenes stayed in my mind and it took me finding your video to remember that they came from this movie. It changed my opinions about a lot of what it means to be a superhero or have superpowers. I just remember feeling every emotion possible and then being numb at the end. I remember relating to Andrew and some of his struggles, wanting to be more powerful and likable. Which I think is why this movie has an impact on people (that have watched it): it's relatable. Even if it's about superpowers, it talks about real life issues mixed with new skills and a new strength that could change how you treat people. I just love the concept, even if some things could've been done better. Just amazing

Chronicle was a follow-up for The Covenant in my mind!! That’s my niche. We need more movies like these!! I think it didn’t do well because it was on the tail end of the surge of found footage films from ‘05 on and people were over the filming concept. You were on the 4th Paranormal Activity and Cloverfield had blown up and the film bros were so upset over its success at the time and people were wanting more original concepts. But I loved it and watched it at least 2 times in theaters and the DVD all the time. Project Almanac had the same downfall of being too late for the found footage craze and I loved it too!
