Huh, I always pronounced it like "Meryl". But for whatever it's worth, her name in Japanese is "Maru" which is closer to "Meryl" than "Marl" or "Marly" (still only close, there isn't a perfect analogue for the mora "ru" in English), and the "a" sound is pronounced like the "a" in "man", not like the "a" in "car."

I mean, there's literally no reason for the Enertrons to have that "But you're still hungry" text other than to crank up the misery factor. You get the feeling that most people living in that world would be glad their timeline gets completely obliterated when you defeat Lavos.
