There's actually a reason the Chancellor defied the not guilty verdict but finding out why involves a lengthy sidequest much later in the game.

fun fact: You can check that bush in 600AD with the white enemy infinite times! That means infinite Shelters, as long as you're feeling patient, since you have to keep re-entering the forest again and again so that the bush will do the rustling animation.

As for your question about the saves: since this is your first playthrough, I won't spoil, but this game does not necessitate for you to make multiple saves just to get different endings. In fact, for your first time, you'll essentially be "guided" to one main ending (that has its variations), whereas the other endings can be considered "new game plus" or in other words, post-game content. I guess what I'm trying to say is - dont worry about it, and just enjoy the experience as blind as possible (I'll only ever tell you if you missed like chests or side quest stuff)

also, in that tutorial residence, you missed the two chests + talking to the old guy upstairs more than once makes him give you money if I recall

I think Frog quickly becomes everyone's favorite character upon meeting him. Not only is he cute and a good fighter, but as you said when creating his voice, he carries himself with the bearing of a noble knight. Also, great job beating Yakra on the first try considering how unprepped you were going in (no Potions and with all your characters at only half health). Scrappy win!

Yea... the climbing part in the jail segment is jank, since it's a tile-based RPG, so the devs didn't make it very obvious where Crono can and can't climb. Also, the random guy who just became a skeleton in the jail cell? No purpose or reason for that, stuff just sometimes happens in the game, just for the sake of makin the world feel more alive (ironic, since that guy was un-alived....)
