I’m glad I watched this video. Hole closing with punches always looked like a short cut to me. Re bush re jewel but you have introduced a professional look at this process. I agree with you. Thanks

Just what I need for a pocket watch I'm restoring. The barrel twists and touches the balance, stopping the watch. If I apply some pressure to the top of the barrel it straightens, freeing the balance, and puff, we and movement! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

As a curiosity:I never give full wind to any watch, (I stop when I feel enought resistance) in order not to force that shaft, main barrel, theres is a lot of force in that place specifically. Brass and hard steel dont match, hard steel will wear fast the brass. This video is a pearl, so professional and peaceful. Thank you very much.

Maybe you could make a video on how to close a worn pivot hole in a brass plate. Also, how to install a brass bushing when the pivot hole is worn out of round, or oblong. I'm not sure if you even work on inexpensive watches.

You can close a worn pivot hole in a brass plate with the techniques Kalle demonstrates here. Choose a punch that fits the oil sink around the pivot hole in the plate, and just follow the procedure in this video series. There are some very good videos on installing bushings on KZbin already. Make sure you find one that emphasises keeping the hole upright and centred on its original position. Worn holes tend to be egg shaped and you need the bushing to be centred precisely. If you ream out the hole for the bushing without using the correct techniques, the hole bushing will be off the original centre and the wheel will not be upright anymore.

Do the holes in the barrel bridge ever have jewels or is it always metal on metal?

Hi there Kalle! Merry Christmas to you your close ones! I got a question about beat error and wear and tear. Could too much play of the barrel, like this Zenith have, be a cause of fluctuating beat error? I got an Omega Seamaster 30 on my work bench at the moment with a caliber 286 that I can't figure out why the beat error changes quite a lot. The balance spring looks fine and the collet is centered. Thanks in advance.
