What an awesome class and teacher definitely worth my time. And for those complaining about the teacher being too slow you must be a good mechanic beacause for us regular folks its just the speed we need. Well explained and correct ways on doing things..the info I learned will definitely stick with me till the day im gone...thanks Mr. Jimmy I appreciate your time and for letting it be seen by anyone interested.....

Thank you so much!!!

I just wanted to say thank you. I watched every video and followed along. To say this is a masterclass is an understatement, this was so much better than that. I finished installing it yesterday and I had every doubt in the world that it would work because I am an ICU RN and not even close to being a mechanic. But after making sure enough fluid was in, to my shock and awe, the truck now goes forward, backward, and shifts gears smoothly once again. Thank you so much

Great series Jimmy! Based on watching your tutorial, I decided to pull a 46RH from the salvage yard and rebuild it (my first) - to install in my 94 Jeep ZJ build. Sure glad I did. The salvaged unit happened to be in good shape (rebuilt once and someone installed a Transgo shift kit) but I installed your kit anyway along with a few other parts and it went together very smoothly. Like new for less than $500 total cost! It was a great learning experience and a really fun project. I would not hesitate to tear into an auto transm again in future.

Be starting my very first automatic overhaul tomorrow, a 2001 Dodge 2500 2wd I dragged home. The odd thing is, "back in the day" (1970's) when I was young and had other Mopars--- 69 383 RR, 70 440-6 RR, 64 Dodge 426, and a 340 powered FJ-40 Landcruiser, MANY people tried to tell me that Torqueflites were EASY to rebuild. "I stayed with 4 speeds" LOL. Nowadays, I can no longer handle a big heavy clutch or difficult to shift 4 speed. THANK YOU!! for the time you took building these!!

A suggestion. Before you install the pan, install the NSS, especially if you have replaced it or are changing the case and rooster comb. Going with a later model 4 or 5 wire case in a 3 wire vehicle. Install the switch, and any adapter and be sure it is activated by the rooster comb bottom. Thank you again for your time and efforts.

The installation of valvebody and parking prawl was very helpful. I was having trouble installing with both attached. Now I will try installing the parking prawl first and then the valve body. I didn't want to do it this way because of all the other issues trying to align things up along with an accumulator and spring and doing all this under a vehicle. Not an easy task.

Went completely through the lesson with no problem and got the transmission back in the truck! :) I seem to have another issue though. I tried to reinstall the driveshaft and the slip yoke seems to be hitting something behind the seal on the transmission side before it bottoms out completely. Is it possible I may have flubbed the support bushing and it's causing the fitment issue? I was rather gentle installing it so I would think not, but I've been wrong before. Any help would be great as I have had the transmission in for about a month now with no progress (just got time again) and would like to finish this up lol

How does this build compared to a 47RE out of a 4 wheel drive 3/4 ton V10
@seanbrossard81784 жыл бұрын
It depends on the year transmission in the 47RH. Which can be identified by the plugs and the transducer/ solenoid the case # but rebuilt could have a number of different internal components swapped.
@merrittmcdowell86754 жыл бұрын
@@seanbrossard8178 Mine is definitely a 47 RE
@seanbrossard81784 жыл бұрын
So now it is just a couple of check valves (balls) and the transducer or solenoid which he covers in the build. Just got done doing mine 30min ago. But mine was a mix up of parts, as the was a rebuilt transmission with 70k on it. My 1st 2nd reverse band delaminated sending debris into the fluid and metal on metal contact for about 20 minutes as I was hauling my airstream over Tahoe summit on us50 last week. Left the trailer in Nevada limped back home. I have an auto pilot so I can control the shift and lockout from inside the truck.

MY 2003 DODGE 1500 WON'T STAY IN 4TH GEAR LONG. WHEN DOWN SHIFTING FROM OVER DRIVE IT SHIFTS TWICE TO 3RD GEAR , THEN SHIFTS TO 4TH AND VERY FAST GOES BACK TO OVERDRIVE . GOING UP HILL IT WILL KICK DOWN TO 3RD AND IF I TURN THE OD OFF IT WILL GO INTO 4TH AND HOLD 4TH .WHAT SOLENOID DO I NEED TO REPLACE ?
@nathanisenhour44203 жыл бұрын
Never a problem from this 46re 2001 dodge unit? But..I didn't adjust anything. Just fluid/ filter. Drove quiet .shifts were clean nothing. Now .the gear reduction noise. No. Shift problems? Odometer 167k. Well maintained vehicl.. Heading to a shop.

Thanks for the lessons. I pulled a 46 re out of my 2500, disassembled a trans that was 1 year and 3000 miles over warrentee , I found and replaced the following , A bad overdrive Snap ring Bearing, A broken rear servo piston. Broken boost valve retainer and gouged boost valve, The cluch packs and steels were like new, the bands and drums good . The truck was slipping in reverse and first gear. and after repairs it has no reverse. it shifts in first second and drive. I have not driven the truck in fear of doing damage. what your advise before i remove and bring to a shop. Thanks

Can u show me the transmission fluid temp sensor
@stanthology3 жыл бұрын
It's part of the solenoids or pressure detector. Can't remember which. Google that same question. You will eventually find a forum with the answer. If your trans temp is high, make sure you eliminate the check valve in the cooler line. Mine got plugged up and my trans was shifting out of OD. Holy cow!
