I have a 2003 PT Cruiser the key I can get has a transponder & the Chip for this model PT Cruiser is from AliExpress an ID46 Chip which for 2001 up to 2005 PT Cruiser I will have to take apart my original key to make sure that it has a ID46 Chip & then I will buy the right key from AliExpress for a price of NZ $6.25 including the ID46 Chip if this.is the Chip that that I need I will buy 2 Keys & have a spare Key which would be a price of NZ $17.06 which is not bad price & then I will go to a Lock Smith to get the keys programed Kind Regards Peter

Hi Peter. There are many different aftermarket transponder keys sold online. You have to make sure the key you buy has the right chip in it, otherwise, a locksmith won't be able to program it to start your vehicle. As long as you buy the right key, the coding should be easy and should take no more than 5 minutes. Hope this helps.

I forgot to mention the 2003 PT Cruiser Key is the Y160-PT Cruiser it is the Identical Key to the one on AliExpress but I hope to get the PT Cruiser Key off my wife so I can take it apart to find out Exactly what Chip I have then I will buy the correct one from AliExpress with the Correct Chip & I will definitely buy 2 Keys & the remote I have got with Key got damaged by the dog as it chewed the remote which was a Bloody Shame & it was only a 2 button remote with one button missing as the dog chewed the button off & I think to replace the 2 button remote would quite expensive to buy & I will just have leave the remote for until I get some money to replace the remote the remotes that AliExpress have are 3 & 4 button remotes & are not for 2001 up 2005 PT Cruisers & the remote was the same shape & looked the same size as our remote to our remote but fitted other Chrysler vehicles oh well it was worth a try anyway Kind Regards Peter PS once I know the correct Chip for the PT Cruiser Key Y160-PT from Aliexpress I will have to wait to get to the 2 Keys programed at the Lock Smith & also have the Keys cut as well to the 2003 PT Cruiser as at the moment we are still COVID-19 LEVEL 4 LOCK DOWN for the whole of Auckland New Zealand only the rest of New Zealand are in COVID-19 LEVEL 2 LOCK DOWN I live in South Auckland New Zealand & we have in for about a few months now Kind Regards Peter

Hi Ebony and thank you for your comment. There are many reasons why this may happen. It's hard to know without a diagnostic tool. The most common reasons are either uncoded chip key or bad chip in the key. Most times coding a totally brand new key may solve the problem.
