Chugga's factoids about various games that he's covered are *_easily_* one of my favorite things about his channel. Not only are they interesting, but they also add a ton of charm to each series and he even mentions the little touches that no other LP'er would bring up. Whether it is his Pokemon bios, explaining English localization changes in Earthbound or even sharing info about unused stuff in these games, it's always some high quality content.

Blessed Arona avatar To be honest, I know it isn't really his way but I wish he'd play some romhacks sometime. Honestly, to me it's pretty cool that I recognize some of this unused stuff as stuff that made into Bug Fables, like the Anger's Power badge becoming the Berserk Medal and the Hustle Drink becoming the Hustle Berry and its recipes. Epilogue: *Goombario is seen sitting in his house, rigorously writing in his book* Goombario: ... annnnd, Done! *closes the book* It's done. It took six months to finally put it all together, but it's finally done. All I need is a title for it. Goombaria: Hey! Big bro! Your friends are outside! Goombario: Coming! *writes the title before leaving (Paper Mario; Partner's Stories)* Don't worry, I'm coming out now. *opens the door* Kooper: Goombario! Good to see you again buddy. Goombario: Kooper, we saw each other last week. Kooper: Oh, right. But I mean, it's been nearly six months since all eight of us have been together, right everyone? Lester: You can say that again. It's great to see all your faces again. Goombario: Well, what have you guys been up to? Lester: Well for me, Lulu and I had been petitioning to make Flower Fields a National Park, and it finally was instituted last month. Bow: That's awesome. Lester: Yup, and in order to help pay for the park, we struck up a deal with the flowers there to sell some of their excess flowers they grow back to the Mushroom Kingdom. I may also be in the works creating a new national holiday to just give out flowers to our loved ones. I call it, Valentine's Day. Karry: Oh really? And did you also plan to have the day be on February 14th, the same day as Lulu's birthday? Lester: Uh, funny coincidence? Sushie: Anyway, I returned to Yoshi's Island to help me daughter through her pregnancy. And not three months ago, she gave birth to a sweet little baby girl. Watt: Awe. What's her name? Sushie: Shiver. Shiver the Cheep Cheep. Bombette: What is with you and your family and S names? Watt: Well, for me, I've been learning a lot more than I used to 6 months ago. I can even count now. Goombario: How high can you count up to? Watt: 2401. *everyone is stunned* Watt: I'm not sure what comes after that though. Bow: I-In any case, Karry and I have been making preparations for our wedding soon. Bombette: Still? How much longer is it gonna take? Karry: Well, I mean, we've been taking our time getting to know each other and our families more before we finally commit. Bow: Karry introduced me to his father a couple months ago, and he's really as kind as Karry said he was. He seemed overjoyed for you as well. Karry: I just, never thought I'd ever find love in my life. But here I am now with you sweetie. Bow: *blushes* Anyway, Karry and I are about to meet with my side of the family soon. And since they're all ghosts, there's a lot of family generations to meet. Sushie: How many we talkin? Bow: Just 8. Kooper: Hundred? Bombette" Thousand? Watt: T! Bow: Just, 8. My family's not that big. Oh, but um, not everyone one of my family can attend. My dear uncle is currently, 'hung up' at the moment and cannot attend. Such a travesty couldn't have happened to a better man. *gives a smug face* Kooper: Oh, I see. Well for Bombette and I, we've been busy working on our museum business. Bombette: Yup. Demolition went super quick thanks to Bruce and Greg helping out, and we've been going strong since opening three months ago. Lester: You guys find any cool treasures lately? Kooper: Yup. I've found things like a magic lamp, a harp, a football, a dagger, a whale,... Bombette: Don't, don't ask how we found all those things. There was this magic music box we stumbled upon, it sent us inside of it, weird stuff happened, but we got out with the treasure. Goombario: ... ok. Well, as for me, I've spent the last 6 months finishing that book. And I just finished it when you guys got here. Watt: Sweet! Can you read it to us? Goombario: Why read it? We already experienced it ourselves. Lester: I think she means, to reexperience those memories again after so long. Goombario: Well, if you say so. *goes inside and returns with the book* Ok, gather around. *everyone sits in a circle, as Goombario reads through the book containing all of their adventures and memories, as they reminisce about the past* *Where We Belong is sung* Goombario: I assumed our time was forever Naturally seemed forever Those happy days we spent together 'Cause you were always beside me Kooper: Then suddenly I realised These happy days won't ever last Out of all the souls we greet in fact How we met was a miracle Bombette: I see you peacefully You're in your dreams Everything seems calm and free, I know Karry: If we want this warmth to last forever again Let's go back to that moment of day Bow: As time goes by and we all change And not just us, the world keeps changing Watt: But little did I know that this was coming 'Cause you were there always smiling Sushie: I wonder how you'll be in the future I wouldn't know, it's hard to figure Lester: But by accepting this feeling inside We'll eventually create a miracle Goombario, Kooper, Bombette, and Karry: I see you smiling there so peacefully And cheerfully I see you talk at me Bow, Watt, Sushie, and Lester: These happy days must carry on So once again, let's go back to that day to where we held All: Hand in hand Goombario: I see you peacefully You're in your dreams Everything seems calm and free, I know If we want this warmth to last forever again Let's go back to that moment of day All: I see you smiling there so peacefully And cheerfully talking at me These happy days must carry on So once again, let's go back to the start This goodbye is not the end I know until we meet again Our feelings will remain the same Together as one, 'til we find ourselves again *up in the sky* Skyvoice: See you guys in the next LP, for the game you've all been waiting for. *wink*

Initiation might actually have to do with the partners. Initiations are typically used for when someone first joins something or goes up in a rank. Perhaps it would increase your partner's attack by one per upgrade through the Super Blocks, and partners with the Ultra Rank, their attack would go up by 2. That, or it might have been an early Happy Flower or Flower Saver badge, then got changed to what we know them as now. That's my best guest, anyway.

With Bob-ombs, some of those traits apply to a Duplighost posing as Bombette. Zap Tap makes them explode if they touch you. So, Bombette and Zap Tap is a good combo for taking on Duplighosts if you want to avoid spending a lot of FP. Also, another correction. You stated there are 2 FP Plus badges when talking about the Jelly Pop. There's actually 3. The one found near Koopa Bros. Fortress, the one sold at Rolf's shop, and the one in Forever Forest. Making the Jelly Pop a nearly complete FP recovery with Max FP. Leveling up after 27 and softlocking? Well good thing I never went through with my idea of a max level run. Would have been hellish and ended like that... Yikes and I thought the Bzzap! farming in Chapter 3 would have been brutal. Glad I just went with a challenge of trying to cook everything ASAP.

What an excellent LP... As for my idea on how the scrapped partners could had worked out? --- Goompapa - Was probably replaced by Goombario for Kid Appeal. Ninji Boy - It's ability? Well, since you had two dungeons left by the time you met Ninjis (Unless Ninji Boy showed up at an earlier point), and they would had joined super-late, most likely... They were probably scrapped to avoid "Late Game Syndrome". That, and when would you have the chance to use their ability to a certain degree anyway when all you had left was the Crystal Palace and Bowser's Castle? Red - If it was indeed a Yoshi... I guess fast travel? I guess the concept was scrapped and later reserved for the Yoshi partner in TTYD. Chain Chomp - Their ability could had been busting through cracked walls, Kool-Aid Man style. (OOOHH, YEEAAAHH!!!) Buuuuuutt since we already had Bombette, they could had gotten shelved cause of that. Why have two partners with similar abilities? Bandit - Enemies could had items on their person, and Bandit could steal them? That concept would had later been used for Ms. Mowz in TTYD. ---- Anyways, looking forward to the next one! :)

Emile, I had stopped watching you for a while. Partially cause I wasn’t interested in the games being played, partially because I found some let’s players more engaging to watch with more varied editing (SGB during their time was like a less informative more freestyle version of you). That might not be a fair comparison to make and the amount of work you put into research for one guy versus SGB who’s a team of 4 can’t be undersold. My taste in gaming media just changed. But this let’s play, this magical trip you put together, won me back. The more creative editing, cutting in other media, voice pitching. It’s a breath of fresh air. Well I have one theory about one of the unused badges. That iron looking jump badge kinda makes me think it might've been an early badge concept that allowed Mario to jump on spiked enemies without getting damaged, but was cut due to Spike Shield being a thing. Perhaps this badge was an early concept for the spike shield, but they figured the icon didn't match the name and instead made it look like what it is today.

14:18 I have a theory on them both, The one on the left being a combo of happy heart and happy flower or a feeling fine that may end status effects early. The right one I feel like was meant to be a stomp on any enemy badge, a combo of having on a spike shield and fire shield.

You are sorely mistaken about how the softlock described by Iggykoop came about: First, you do not get star points at level 27, even from bosses, and as JCog demonstrated via the practice ROM after we showed him this video, even if you edit the star point total to be above 0, if the level is at least 27, a check performed every frame resets the star point total to 0; the real problem is that the game checks your *boosted* Max HP and Max FP levels (from HP Plus and FP Plus badges) against the stat thresholds when deciding what stat can be raised on level-up, so if your BP is at 30, your un-boosted Max HP and Max FP are both at least 35, and your boosted Max HP and Max FP are both at least 50 (which implies your level is at least 21) and you level up, you'll be in the same situation as Iggykoop. Based on the old video and the Star Point total from the fight, I suspect that Iggykoop was at level 24 with 30BP, un-boosted Max HP at 45, un-boosted Max FP at 40, and all three HP Plus and FP Plus badges equipped; because of the 1.3× multiplier from a battle starting with more than three enemies, and the Crystal King's internal level of 85 (while the Crystal Bits have level 1 or 0 because they do not give experience), the experience yield if Mario's level is 24 is 1.3×½(85−24)=39.65, which rounds to 40. Wait, the Star Point total was 43, so Iggykoop must have used cheats or hacks: Working backwards, 85−43×2/1.3≈18.846, which rounds to 19, and then 1.3×½(85−19)=42.9, which rounds to 43; this is more consistent with, say, having un-boosted HP and FP both at 30 and then hacking in three extra HP Plus badges and two extra FP Plus, but all of those badges together would take 33BP to equip, so it's more likely that cheats were used to boost Mario's stats. For what it's worth, JCog tried to reproduce it himself with the practice ROM and it didn't work, but he didn't rule out the existence of some other variable tracked by the game that the practice ROM wasn't set up to poke, and there is a hint in the decompilation that there are multiple variables to keep track of, while the practice ROM only allows editing the boosted HP and FP directly; I distinctly remember a situation like that softlock happening when I first played the game in 2001 (I wore all three HP Plus badges and could not raise HP once my boosted HP reached 50, so I raised FP and stopped using the Plus badges in favor of badges that provided new attacks or increased defense or attack strength), but I am tempted to run the TAS up to Chapter 6 and then grind on Amazy Dayzees just to quickly check whether I can trigger the softlock.

While it's very uncommon because people think it sounds wrong, "There're" is a grammatically correct and 'legal' contraction of "there are". So while it sounds awkward to some, it's not actually a typo or grammatical error; it's legit.

9:28 Actually, yes, "there're" _is_ a word. It's short for "there are", and I've seen people use it many times. It's a pretty rare word, though, so I don't blame you for thinking it isn't one.

Just another beautiful documentation of gaming history, if anybody is an inspiration, a walking wiki, and a legend of some niche culture (some might say), then that anybody is chugga. Seriously bonkers, I have no idea how some of these videos even get RELEASED with how much is jam packed in them that I seem to never be able to locate anywhere else. A welcome replay of paper mario, here's to many more series

9:27 "There're" actually is a word. It's a contraction of "there" and "are". So the correct sentence would be "There're so many snowmen!" (There are so many snowmen!)
@jlev1028 Жыл бұрын
It sounds awkward, though. Better to write it as two separate words.
@Limayde Жыл бұрын
@@jlev1028 I would bet on the opposite, actually. If you're speaking to someone, "there are" is probably gonna come out as "there're" instead, especially at the beginning of a sentence.

Actually "There're so many of snowmen!" only contains one error, and that's the "of" as "There're" is the contraction of the words "There" and "are", like "They're" being "they are", and so on. It should be "There're so many snowmen!" or if there's enough space, "There are so many snowmen!"
@ApplesGhost Жыл бұрын
There're is a contraction meaning there are. "There're so many of snowmen" is technically a grammatically correct sentence, but it's not how a native English speaker would speak. A native English speaker would either drop the "of" or add "these" after "of."

"There're" is a perfectly reasonable contraction of "there are". While a lot of people might say "there's so many snowmen", "there're so many snowmen" is technically more correct. (Though in writing, you'd probably just see "there are so many snowmen", because while "there're sounds fine when spoken with sufficient rhoticity, it does look a little awkward.) The "of" is inexcusable, though.
