I bought this pattern last week (I think), and saw at the time that it didn't include instructions for the icord casing. I'm a competent knitter, so I knew I could figure out how to do it. And then this pops up! Now I don't have to spend time finding the best way, and I'm sure your method is going to look a lot more polished than what I would have cobbled together. This is great - thanks so much. :)

@LauraNelkin I couldn't wait for her to get the yarn dyed 😆 so I cast it on in leftovers I have from my Arctic light sweater. I think they'll look good together. I way over purchased...I might even have enough for some mitts too.

I just finished my first Hoodola and noticed that the end 3 stitches, the slip stitch stitches make a casing, like knitting an icord. I had planned to increase those to 5 stitches on each side to make a larger casing, but hadn’t worked out how to make cord exits at the bottom. This is so much better and such perfect timing for me!! Thank you! I’ve already made my i-cord and now I can make the casing and lay the i-cord in as I’m attaching it. It’s a very good day thanks to you!

Thank you! I love the way you’ve used two colours. I am now knitting my second one! I added more length to the ribbed cowl so my neck stays covered when I flip it inside to cover my face. I live in Canada with some cold winter days so need the extra warmth! I also made the casing for the icord in a 1x1 rib and love how it turned out. Great pattern, instructions and videos!

Beautiful colorway combo of the two color Hoodola you're almost finished finishing off, Laura! Excellent video tutorial per your usual. I appreciate each one I've watched. Thank you for going that extra energy and time required to bring them to us. I like the new i-cord tool from Twice Sheared Sheep, definitely going in my cart along with her other new tools she has releasing today. I've been waiting ever since she announced them! Hoping the size and shape of this one over the one I have will make a difference in being successful in making i-cords. Take good care! ❤❤❤

Ahhh! Thank you so much for sharing this! I was working through it on my own last night and was trying to work out how to do the bind off and even checked if you had a video about this first thing this morning! I ended up doing a yarn over to get my 3rd stitch in the beginning. I could frog it back but I think I'll just leave it and make another one. 😂

QUESTION: I'm little late to the party for Cowltopus, (ran across tic toc loved it. looked and realized what it was and I'm like dang you have the kit, get kracken) So....two questions. Thinking of adding the I-cord casing. Think that would look ok? Then would you happen to know the amount of yarn needed for the casing? I'm finishing up clue 2 and into the 3rd color on both solid and variegated. Thanks in advance. Laura/Lola ya knocked this one outta the park.. My sister is gonna love this. Think it's going to be a tad to warm for AZ (grins) Perfect for WI. Thanks again!
@LauraNelkin
@LauraNelkin 9 күн бұрын
I don't think Cowltopus needs the casing... the sucker stitch pulls in the hood and makes a great fit! If you do add one you'll need around 50 yards or so for it!

Hi Laura (❤ u)! If we want to include a casing AS we're knitting Hoodola from the start, would it work to use Stitch Saver at the end (beginning?) of the flat stockinette hood rows, then pick up those stitches from the Stitch Saver to knit the casing in the other direction (channeling your Novus?), then fold the casing inward and knit/sew it down (like a folded collar)????
@LauraNelkin
@LauraNelkin 13 күн бұрын
That would totally work!

Hi there. To make the casing for the hoodola do you cast on the same amount of stitches that are already on the finished edge around the face? I have already bought the hoodola pattern but can not find where the written instructions for the casing and icord are. I would like to download them and add them to my pattern.
