Hey Dee Dee, thanks for sharing your knowledge on the T&C. I have a very well kitted Stankoimport T&C made in Russia 1971 and your ER40 with INT50 ARBOR just gave me an idea. All the best from Brisbane 🇦🇺.

Hi, thanks for tuning in! I have seen several grinders using that set up.

Coffee on this end also Dee. . Love my coffee. Hot and black PEET'S coffee. I just ordered another bag of it last night. Wintertime is not the time to run out of coffee... LOL Good information on shipping the grinder. Thanks as always for bringing us along.

DeeDee, Your many tips and demos of your tool and cutter grinder are getting me excited to put my new to me Browne and Sharpe into cleanup and prep for use mode. Soon that time is coming. Been sick and unable to do shop work for the pst few months but I think I’m in recovery mode. So good to see you well and happy. Cheers, TB

I was able to observe some very skilled people doing different things in different industries with these grinders one of the most innovative was a local plastic mold maker back in the 1990s before he went CNC used the machine extensively. The machine shop program at the CC had a KO Lee, and sort of acted as a job shop to support the sports teams, I jumped at every opportunity to use and operate the machine because it is logical to be able to sharpen your own tools to near perfection especially using the best machines possible with the intent of going after the best work. I am glad to hear you are feeling better, I see this as a tough winter.

Hello Dee, Thanks for the information on the table slide bearings. You're 100% correct about the brinelling damage being caused when the in transport. I reckon that's what happened to mine. It's not too bad, still do some good jobs on it. Yet to price the spares. The Cincinnati No.2 is an amazing machine. Thanks again.

Most just do not know how to move one of these, good to hear your machine will work for you.

Thanks Dee, I've learned the hard way about certain machinery dealers handling of equipment (HGR), I purchased a Cincinnati 19" lathe from them recently, seems the forklift operator tried to lift the machine with forks by the chip tray and also broke the cross feed handle off in the process. Really enjoy your videos thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I have only purchased a couple of chucks and a steady rest, all poorly packed, one chuck was lost and just the box made it, parts missing that were in the photo on the steady, real hacks on their expensive shipping and handling two years ago anyway. Thanks for tuning in!

I feel you on that oddball brown and sharpe taper, Dee. My little old horizontal mill has a (rather poor) brown and sharpe #9 and while it’s functional I would like to be able to share tooling between it and my vertical mills. I think the best thing would be to make a whole new spindle for it. It would be fairly simple, as spindles go. Your videos have been an invaluable resource for my deliberations on that subject.
@deedeeindustrialsuperprecision Жыл бұрын
Those old spindles were often very soft steel, I was watching a fellow make a new spindle for an old camel back drill it worked out great, the old machines were made on other old machines. The B&S tapers can really get stuck in the spindles. Thanks for tuning in today!

Good one . Have you seen the old English Colchester lathes video , it has a section on Gamet spindle bearings . Very interesting . 👍
@deedeeindustrialsuperprecision Жыл бұрын
I did watch that video, the Colchester lathes were sold by Clausing here and some had a Gamet badge, and the very well liked DSG had the Gamet taper roller bearings noted for excellent surface finish and roundness on the work piece. Thanks Max!

Dee, you have some very nice machines in your small shop! Do you really need TWO Monarch 10EE`s? IMHO I think you need a (small) MANUAL precision surface grinder for that space? Good exercise for the heart.

I have a 6x12 Harig in the basement of the house, I am looking for and working on more space. In the future I may need only one Monarch 10ee, thanks!

Really fantastic content Dee. I’m looking forward to hauling out my B&S cutter grinder for a restoration. Still need to find a powered work head and tail stock for it though.

Hi, my grinder is a Cincinatti No 2 from around 1942

One more question. How did you get the pin for the 5c in after regrinding it in the brown and Sharpe taper? Thanks again!
@deedeeindustrialsuperprecision Жыл бұрын
The pin is a set screw that is not accessible without knocking the adapter back out. If that is needed and the adapter reinstalled, it is likely I will have to give the 5c taper a light grind, as the body is thin to fit the BS taper in the head it may distort from that. The 5c collet use on the grinder is light duty and unlikely to wear or break off the locating pin. Thanks!
