Does the back-focus flange work well? The shims on other lenses keep me away.

It uses shims to get close focus matching, then fine tunes with backfocus ring.

Want a compact full frame lens? Get the Sigma 24-70 2.8. Add two geared rings. Works for most of my work, and it includes AF.

Agree entirely. The Sigma has better parfocal performance (is perfectly parfocal), has better focus breathing performance, is autofocus, and has electronic contacts to report focal length and aperture. Perhaps most importantly, the Sigma is 1/3rd the price. While these Laowa are certainly cheaper than Cooke and Arri cinema lenses, few buy those, they rent. If Laowa wants to compete for lens buyers (not renters), the optics need to match those of $1,000 photo lenses. Based on this video, Laowa is not doing that.

What sets me off is the lens extension while zooming. Where as I don’t have that type of problem with cine zoom lenses. But other than that I totally agree on a budget level

@@mark12345697 yeah I totaly agree on that one, that would be my only gripe. There is a company that you can buy a front house that covers the extended part. Adds size and weight but looks really good. Too bad that Sigma didn’t do it like the 18-35 1.8 where it was just one housing and all movement was internal.
