I work in Pensions in the USA as a Teamster in Chicago. (if you didn't know this song is about George's dad losing his Canadian pension). I'm proud to say that this song inspired me to go fight the good fight for Teamsters that deserve their money. I once got someone a retro check from 1984 thru current (then 2020). I've also saved a handful of guys pensions for making simple mistakes. I'm talking their pension being yanked for life. And I'm in this career cause of this song.

To all you that say Dallas makes alexisonfire, he may be the most talented of the lot, but in concert, he has the smallest stage presence ever. I love this man, but don't insult the rest of alexisonfire, they deserve to be equally recognised.

City and colour fans, myself included, won’t usually say this but Dallas should make more songs in his lower range like thus. In the last 5-7 years he has improved his higher range and vocal agility but we know Dallas can hit those low notes. Yes I know this song was a long time ago and an Alexisonfire song

Both are some favorite bands of all time, but I would’ve been totally fine with Dallas as only vocalist in AOF. Just felt that George and Wade were not on his level and many of the screams and growls were too amateur sounding. They were great on guitar tho. This fella’s voice is out of this world.
@HeadsAreRolling13 жыл бұрын
I love you Dallas! You are one of the greatest musicians ever! You won't read this, but i'm sure you can hear it with how loudly i'm screaming. :)

@Ndallaco So, when The Beatles broke up, was John Lennon not allowed to play any of their songs live? Get over your fucking self. Bands break up. People go in different places. The world moves the fuck on. As guitarist, pianist, and primary singer--singing, screaming, two different talents--he's honestly mostly responsible for what most people consider Alexisonfire's "sound", and has every right to play a song he helped write.
@thenoodleguy13 жыл бұрын
@justger are you fucking high dude find anyone who can play guitar like buckethead... and be as original as him, he invented his own 8 finger tapping find anyone that can do that like that and by pop music i dont mean the beatles, i mean shitty justin bieber and shit you find in the radio, the beatles where fucking inspirational and pop music used to be good until it got turned to shit... and bro heres some more, muhammed suicmez, tosin abasi, luke hoskin, Ryan Knight all really inspiring to me
@thenoodleguy13 жыл бұрын
@MegaCookiesCream I don't listen to shitty pop music, I listen to talented musicians that worked for what they have and didnt just enter a stupid radio contest that got them famous. I like Dallas because his lyrics actually mean something and they're not some random shit someone else wrote for him. People think that I'm an emo kid cus I listen to metal but really I listen to metal for the guitar parts, people say it's easy to go up to a mic and scream but that's not what they do they inhale and
@thenoodleguy13 жыл бұрын
@MegaCookiesCream how the fuck do you not know who buckethead is? i can understand muhammed suicmez but dude really? buckethead is pretty damn huge, go have a listen to soothsayer by buckethead you will not be disapointed, its one thing to pick up a guitar strum 4 chords and sing along to lyrics that have no meaning that someone else wrote, but to actually be able to play guitar is totally different, really listen to the guitar in that song though. =P if you saw music like i did youd understand.
@DaveDFFA14 жыл бұрын
@ctarp45 Rough hands is one of the songs that has defined my life. His entire crisis album was based on depressing events that had shaped their lives, and yes, everyone's entitled to an opinion, and my opinion of him is based off of my own experience. May it was because I was a musician? Who knows. He didn't want anything to do with much of anyone at hillside, so that's just how I see him.
@ctarp4514 жыл бұрын
@DaveDFFA Definately has hate for this guy for no reason, i have met him and had an awesome conversation with him after one of his shows, has an awesome personality and is not ..i repeat NOT an asshole also just saying his music isnt that depressing, you may not know the meaning to most of his music, i find it very uplifting if you ask me, but like everyone in the world you have the right to your own opinion thumbs up?? :)
@DaveDFFA14 жыл бұрын
@pineapplesRyummie I LOVE YOUR DISPLAY PICTURE (tidus, ffx, lol, have ALL of them). And yes. He's a very "first impression" kind of person. If you're famous, he'll love you more than likely. I guess I was just a nobody with no opinion or no say to him. I'm kinda glad he's a dick though. If he wrote this depressing music actually being this down all the time he'd be another eliot smith or conor oberst.

He's like chips, i can't just have one... this is the third song I've heard. i don't think i can stop!

I'm sorry, but it's not the same. Alexisonfire should have never broke up. For those who've been listening to Alexisonfire for such a long time... Counterparts and number them? Dallas made a decision. Sadly, I dont agree with their split up and I would rather have Alexisonfire then City and Colour, but that's my opinion
@foryourlugsonly13 жыл бұрын
who cares who's better man, whats great for some isn't for others. I love both man, Without one there wouldn't be another. At the minute i prefer to listen to City and Colour because Im playing a shit load of acoustic. It would be better if you all stopped cyber bitching and just enjoyed the fuckin music though
@MegaCookiesCream13 жыл бұрын
@thenoodleguy Well, yes. Justin Beiber is talented. Once again. They don't let any one into the music industry. Not any 12 year ol could sing like that... Plus who's "Buckethead" or "Muhammed Suicmez"? >_> You do need talent to have a couriear as a musician. Why has JB been bought into this (I'm not a Beiber crazy fan, just so you know, I'm just sick of the hate =.=)
@TheImaginaryGuy13 жыл бұрын
@ClaireTheBassist I wrote "his" because I thought some people that don't know who Alexisonfire are would think that he's covering a song in which he didn't write but because he was a participant in writing this song I thought it'd be easier just to write what I wrote. And I do appreciate the rest of the band, Alexisonfire are an amazing band. Sorry for such a long reply lol
@LynziiLu14 жыл бұрын
@cheynecastillo Dallas Green has a solo side project called City and Colour, yes. But he is also a part of Alexisonfire, a huge part actually. He writes many of the songs, is one of the two vocalists for Alexisonfire, and is a huge part of the band itself. If you seriously didn't know that, how exactly are you here calling out other people on being dumb?. just sayin...
@PJD128614 жыл бұрын
@DiabeticDood I know for sure its a Martin, he's been using it for a long time, my best guess is the 15 series found on Martins website ... in his wikipedia it shows his list of gear used and says "1989 vintage Martin 0017 Acoustic Guitar". But odds are it is old and vintage, but the 15 series are the closest you'll get. Oh, he also has a sound hole pickup fyi.
@VixaProductions14 жыл бұрын
man, its not t hat he's too good, its that he's a god, and if you try to cover him it won't be as good as the original. Though I do enjoy listening to other styles of the same song regardless if their better or worse then the original. Fianl note Dallas Green is god, and its just as godly in Person. I can attest that that.
@LPCoCaBBfan049415 жыл бұрын
gluabab the tuning is in Drop D* when I play it, it sounds right. To find the correct (or extremely close) chords look in the related videos for boiled frogs cover by sometimes7777 thats where I learned how to play it, you can see exactly what hes playing. Hope that helps. *Drop D makes it easier to play power chords because in this tuning you just have to bar the fret
@codxvmasta13 жыл бұрын
@steviewonder74CEA No.. Alexisonfire writes EVERY song completely together. So actually Alexisonfire wrote this, they're one of the few bands who do it completely together. If anything now that Dallas is out, Alexisonfire has more rights to this song then him.
@IamDayoldHate113 жыл бұрын
@simonsays1092 So fucking what? AoF lost its edge after Young Cardinals. Why would Dallas want the band he nurtured for many years to turn into something as monotonous as Nickleback. Besides, throwing the blame completely on him is wrong. Wade was leaving the band too.
@PFieroGT8713 жыл бұрын
@tyler4871 What gives you the right to say that nearly all music after 2005 has no meaning? You aren't making any sense, and you type like a child. Do some digging too, because you aren't looking hard enough for good music if you haven't found any in the last 5 or 6 years.
@tyler487113 жыл бұрын
@PFieroGT87 I disagree with that for one simple reason, pop stars that are under 18, 19 because then all of it would be gay like justin beiber or miley cyrus and what soul is there in those songs, so horrible songs would get better, but it would make dallas look bad :P
@thenoodleguy13 жыл бұрын
@MegaCookiesCream so you're saying Justin Bieber is talented? any 12 year old can sing like that if he/she really wanted to, i see your point but what I'm trying to say is that it doesn't take much talent to be a pop artist, when people say talented i think of buckethead or muhammed suicmez. =P

Please link a youtube video where Dallas tells the crowd to stop singing along... There's a LOT of his live stuff here so you should be able to find something if it's true... He made a Joke about the crowds ability to clap when I saw him in London but was never rude or arrogant... He was amazing!
@XDantesHeavenX12 жыл бұрын
@dundeenorton yes i do he played guitar and sang, but this song can not be covered well in an acoustic, version because the original was just too good and there were two other vocalists, (George and wade) which, with dallace, was what made it so good
@Clarkjr3313 жыл бұрын
@IamDayoldHate1 Totally agree. Dog's Blood was kind of a joke and you could tell that Dallas was not into it anymore. They put out great albums that I will continue to listen to, but I also love City and Colour so it doesn't bother me too much.

@PFieroGT87 that the point exactly, there is great but most of it come from 2005 and before, after that everything is garbage, there may be a catchy song here and there but there is no meaning to it. and what gives you a right to call me a kid?
@PFieroGT8713 жыл бұрын
@tyler4871 What are you talking about? Just because you don't like whatever is being played on the radio, doesn't mean there isn't any other great music being made in the world. I think you're looking to far into this whole thing. Grow up, kid.
