Why didn't this go up the chain. The chief can't answer. He says he just found out about this mid April when the lawsuit was filed. The sergeant/supervisor who's on leave, but still employed, appears to have covered it up. He's the 27-year veteran.

Every time a police officer resigned before action against then can be taken or sacked they should not be allowed to be employed by another police / law enforcement department and failings of the officer is also failings by their management ie the chief and he should go / be removed from office

When all is said and done, I don't see how Chief Ticer keeps his job. He has no choice but to resign. Either he's incompetent for not knowing what was happening in his department, or he's a liar that knew about it all along and only did something because of public outrage. He's lost the trust and confidence of the public, he can no longer serve effectively as Chief of Police. A competent police chief would have an employee that regularly reviews body camera footage and it's corresponding reports and report all uses of force, violations of policy/law/civil rights and police reports that conflict with the video to the chief at regular intervals. Weekly seems reasonable. What's the point of having body cameras on police if the footage isn't ever reviewed? It seems officers in Loveland have a sense that they can do whatever they want because the footage from their cameras won't ever be seen. The chief created this culture by being a hands-off "leader."
