Can you explain both the "no more than two allies" and "backstab" conventions that have been coming up in your recent games? Can't quite find them on the CPL ruleset

Whenever an FFA game starts in CPL, there's a number of rules that are voted on at the start of the game. Which map do we play on, are there any civs that will be banned, what's the disaster level, etc. One of those rules is "what's the maximum number of friends/allies each player can have?", and 99% of the time the vote results in "2". This limit on alliances results in a much more tense lobby, as you can't simply ally everyone in order to stay safe. There are no rules in CPL regarding backstabbing. However, since there are only a few hundred regulars, word will get around quickly if you establish a reputation for backstabbing allies. Therefore, as a general social convention, players usually avoid backstabbing each other. Declarations of friendship are generally just treated as a 20-turn non-aggression pact, whereas full-on alliances are treated more seriously. You generally will only be labelled a backstabber for betraying someone after an alliance, not a friendship. Also, if two allies are competing directly against each other for 1st in the end-game in a lobby where nobody else is competitive for 1st, backstabbing becomes socially acceptable again. Declaring war on your ally on turn 105 because they're 5 turns away from a culture victory while you're launching your exoplanet expedition is to be expected.

You think it would have been worth to delay political philosophy one turn for more era score next era? I mean you did get 1 prod 0.25 culture 0.25 science and 2.17 gold and 2 influencer points for one turn but is 3era score or that better?

I usually find the 2nd golden age easy enough to hit that I don't feel the need to delay political philosophy for it

Wait, why harbor after you put a adjacency card is giving science at all(and so freaking much)? Maybe i misreading something, but i thought that this card should just give more money from them(harbors)? Thank for answer in advance!

The Free Inquiry golden age dedication causes harbors to grant science equal to their adjacency

Can you explain pls, why did you take goddess of tides instead of god of sea? Cause there was a risk not to get golden and you wanted to get to political philosophy in 1st age?

You're correct, I'd missed my first golden age in a recent game and was being extra careful so that it didn't happen again. The extra culture ensured that I'd hit Political Philosophy before the classical era arrived for more era score.

Players in CPL (the community this game was played in) can vote to concede a game when they feel like it's inevitable who will win. cpl.gg/rules/voting/ scroll down to "Conceding". The vote took place in a discord channel which isn't captured in the video when the game was paused. This is done to save everyone time, rather than having them spend another half hour to play out 10 more turns where it's obvious that I'll just launch the space projects and win.
