One thing that I’ve seen Brett kollman touch on and something I saw too was that CJ has great subtle pocket movements too, step here or a slight drift there buys him that extra half second even within the pocket, it’s so much fun to watch

@@andrewgreen8383questioning whether he could handle the pressure was warranted. As a huge CJ fan and a huge Buckeye fan, there were many games in those 2 years he was the starter where he took a good hit and disappeared for a quarter or 2. As his 2nd year went on he got better forgetting the last hit he took. He just didn’t take a lot of hits so when he did it definitely affected his play.
@duanecarter79546 ай бұрын
I'm a Buckeye, I watched every game too and that's bullsh*t. There's a KZbin video of every pass and run of Stroud's career at TOSU. All anyone has to do is watch it and they'll see that's total 🧢 Besides, who is going to be a huge fan of a QB that in many games of his career, despite having possibly the best OL in college football, he takes a big hit then disappears for a full quarter to half of a game? That makes sense, huh?

The drift thing is something many young good QBs are adapting as good footwork that older football viewers think may be 'bad' footwork. Probably helps too when CJ is under max protect play action formations.

One thing that is remarkable is that the Texans managed to do what they did with the most injuries of any team in NFL which was also the most injuries to a team ever in the history of recording that stat. Right now everyone is healthy and stronger and if they can mostly stay that way then the Texans will take the next step up especially with the new additions.

Some folks were making the Jared Goff comp and I can see it with Stroud. But Stroud seems more resilient against pressure so he's not checking it down even in late passing downs. Which means he's willing to grip and rip it especially if he sees the mismatch with a big target for him like Nico downfield.

Nothing about his game last year was gimmick-y or overly reliant on athleticism. Defenses might disguise more or throw more at him but he handled that fine last year when it happened. TF's ability to break down film is really making me contemplate my first ever patreon subscription man. It's not just X and O's. My guy covers tendencies, coverages, assignments, and, above all, the mindset of players relevant in each play. It's one thing to say that "this coverage developed into cover one robber, so he threw a bomb once a guy popped open". It's another to speak on why a DB made the decisions they made based off of what they are seeing and reacting too, and consequently, how the QB responds to the responses within the defense. It's almost like a story he is telling each play. Very unique. No disrespect to other break down channels, nor am I speaking on any trait TF doesn't display reliably. Dude's commentary style is unique to my sphere of channel recommendations at least.
