Wonderful thorough review! I've got weathertech on my SUV and small car. It has the best fit by far. It literally looks like it's part of the car. I never take the mat off with liquid. I simply dab it with a paper towel or rag before removing it. That basically eliminates any risk of spillage.

2nd the huskys. I’ve been in several other people’s vehicles with WTs, and they offer too little friction. The huskys are softer, remain flexible, don’t get plasticy and curl. I have them in 2 current vehicles for the past 5 years, front and back, one with the contour fit or whatever, and one with the regular huskys. No complaints on either set. Some of the comparison “tests” on this video are ridiculous. How difficult is it to pull the label off? Not on my list of concerns. The huskys are nice and stay in place even if you don’t have a floor hook. The WTs feel like work truck floor liners.
@piezoman79
@piezoman79 4 жыл бұрын
David Sanchez the contours are more plush/softer/flexible feeling than the standard huskys, and would highly recommend them if they’re available for your vehicle. But the regular huskys are still very nice and have really aggressive “spikes” to grip the carpet and stay in place very well, and still offer good friction for your feet. Both clean up easily with some simple green or similar all purpose cleaner to remove the winter salt. Not sure what the price difference between them is these days but if you can swing the extra few bucks and they’re available for your application, the contours are definitely top of the line, as far as rubber floor mats goes anyway 🍻

@David Sanchez i have a pair of husky's in my Tacoma. they're okay, the driver side matt was molded incorrectly or it got bent in shipping and doesnt sit right, the emblem fell off. and they gave me a hard time about giving me a new one when i called them on the molding. Next set I buy will be weather tech. the passenger side one has been rock solid tho, no shifting, or warping.

I think its dependent on which vehicle. Because for my 15 fusion the husky liners covered a good 3inches further towards the seats and fit better than the weathertech. I had sent mine back and then tried the husky. Glad I did! Love the in channel wind deflectors from Tech though, among a few other things. Both great companies, with very nice products, and best of all..MADE IN THE U.S.A. which isnt very common at all these days.

I disagree with ever aspect of this. My ram optional "weather tech" stuff formed mats are the TITS. And shop vacs will suck the deep puddles from snow or whatever if you cant move that sear back or your pedals back to the floorboard. ( call me spoiled but my ram techs cost me as much as the front only from either company and I got a solid 1 piece rear to boot . What a goog. That mud had to be dried trampled for a week while building up more rocks and mud. And the "burn out" ha. Are you sure the wear wasn't a lil extra anti slip rubber coating. To the Ford fans. I just bought my wife WT floor liners for her Acura RDX for Xmas. They are not only cheap plastic, the edges curl up wards, so water, salt can get into the carpet. My next move is to try and use a heat gun to bend the edges down. the whole thing was a waste of time and money. I have a 4 year old set of WT mats in my truck, and they used to be thick rubber that fit correctly. They are making them now with inferior materials, and sloppy cutting.

If your ride gets stuck in snow or mud, a floor mat pushed under the front edge of the tires that are spinning might provide enough traction to bring the tire forward out of the problem area. Looks like the Husky is more likely to provide the traction that might get you unstuck.

Guy sounded biased against Husky Liners from the start. I've used Husky liners in 5 vehicles without issue since early 2000. Never wore thru and protected my carpet. I was never crazy about the Weather Tech brand, I always felt it was just a knock-off of Husky. Not sure how your going to end up with all that water in your floor mat. If that happens you have more issue than a floor mat can help you with.

As a lawn care and landscaper I feel like I prefer the weather techs that I just recently bought they just seem a bit sturdier. Jesus bless y’all.

With carpet, you won't hear the WeatherTech beating against the floor pan. I have WeatherTech's in my truck and Husky's in my car. They're both very good products and you can't really go wrong with either. I do like how the Husky's cover the carpet hook as I've gotten some mud stains around the carpet hook opening on the WeatherTech's.

What would be a good idea to add to this video, an update.... Is how they age. Because over time, dirt can get into the plastic and make any mat fade it a brown dirt/mud color as my gray wheathertech mats did.

I just bought a set of WT and they no longer have the cheesy logo on them. This will be my 2 nd set as I purchased a new truck. The one thing I have to say is the WT fit perfect. It looks like WT upgraded their floor liners from the 1st set I bought. I had the WT in my first truck for 11 years with no problems. The only down size to WT is it does feel more like a work truck due to the harder plastic they use. Husky uses more of a rubber that cuts down on the noise. It’s totally up to the consumer but I give WT a slight advantage for the tight fit of the floor mats.

Owned WeatherTech for years... and was lamenting high price... well worth it. My only recommendation would be to add objective measurements to tests... how much force on the screwdriver... how much effort in lbs went in the tearing... how subjective is the application of force? assuming it was impartial, there's no competition.

Great real world test! My kids are always putting mentos in coke, stabbing and burning my floor mats! My 10 year old is always stealing my Raptor and doing donuts on my mats. Is there a special Raptor tire that won't cause any damage to floor mats? That would be a hell of a product! Cool channel, I really enjoy watching!!

I have a medium tan color Weather Tech. The fit is great. I do find I have to use a brush to scrub the dirt out of the fine grain that is molded into the plastic. It won't just rinse off.

i have weather tech currently but think i am going to try husky next time. Weathertech mats are very hard, which is good for durable, but not so good for removing the matts or feel. I think a softer material would be more attractive. Is what i would like to see is a company put carpet in the middle of these mats like the Ram Limiteds have. Then we get a more luxury mat with ultimate protection

@@stickom I love my WeatherBeater liners. Made in my home state of Kansas, durable, fit perfectly, they're not super slippery like WT, dosent slide around in the foot well and easier to take out and clean. Also Husky liners usuall have sales. I got mine $60 cheeper than WT.

Just ordered a set of huskys. ive had weather tech in my other vehicles and they look like they will fix most the issues i see with weathertech... mainly very slippery when wet, liner tends to move around when getting in and out, and the edges always curl over time causing dirt to just get under them.

I have Weather Tech in my two trucks and have had two or three sets in previous trucks. I’m prettty happy with them but they do get a little ugly after a couple years hard use. Little more pricey than others but they do protect well. I always remove them in summer except for the camp truck. Bought a new Acadia and I’m looking at GMC OEM premium floor mats. They seem really great and there is a 20% off sale direct from GM through May. Between Weather Tech and Husky I do prefer Weather Tech.

Would have been nice if there was a way to compare how they survive when constantly exposed to salt/liquid chloride. Dept of transportation loves to saturate the roads in the winter by me with this nasty solution. I have found that after a few winters, my weather tech liners are faded and don;t clean up as well. Also, the stickers came off after 2 seasons (not a big deal, i'm not a fan of the large weather tec logos...Also, the lack of a plug or cover for the anchor point always annoyed me as that white chloride always found its way to the carpet from that anchor area..

I prefer Husky liner xacts over weathertech's. I've owned both and I prefer the soft rubber and the way it feels/sounds. I also prefer the deeper grooves to keep my feet/pants from touching the water. Lastly I found all the weathertech's I've owned would fold in and not lay flat against the contours of the floor.

Owning both I can tell you that the Weathertechs are hard slippery plastic and the edges/corners curl up over time. Husky Exact Contour are more rubber like and do Not curl up and are a much BETTER floor liner. Husky makes a cheaper product called Husky WeatherBeater floor liners that are more comparable to the Weathertech liners it is a hard plastic type liner that curls up. I have some WeatherTechs in my Tahoe right now that are curled up junk, next good sale on Husky the weathertechs are getting trashed and replaced with a set of Husky ExactContours.

It’s preference. I started with WT. They were good. I just got tired of it slightly shifting, and the sound they’d make as I shuffled my feet around. My husky’s don’t do that. Plus if I have a toolbox in my passenger footwell, it barely moves on the husky, but slid all around on the WT’s. I think the WT’s would last longer. But the Husky rubber is a solid product. You’re basically getting the best of both worlds….a pretty decent shaped fit like WT, but tried and true rubber like 95% of other all weather mats.

I've used Weather Techs on several vehicles and liked them until I got a set for my last truck a 2012 Ram 1500 Quad cab. When I took them out of the box I noticed them to be out of shape. When I installed them they did not sit flat like they were suppose to. They curled up on several edges. I took pictures and sent it to Weather Tech. They replaced the rear liner because it looked the worst. However the new ones were not much better. They too were somewhat curled. I think the problem is in how the package them up and ship them. For my 2019 Ram 1500 Quad cab I went with the Husky's. A night and day difference in fit and trim. They fit like a glove.And they were better packaged. The price was better also. Won't go back to Weather Tech.
