Made this for Thanksgiving. Decided to brûlée the individual slices as they're served since it's just me and my wife and we didn't want a soggy brûlée topping on day 2. Worked like a charm! The pie is very good and I will definitely make it again. The only problem was that the crust was very difficult to roll out but very forgiving to "patching." Highly recommend!

Maple syrup is very expensive in Malaysia. What can I substitute it with?
@bonappetit7 жыл бұрын
Hey Yvonne -- I haven't tested this pie with a sweetener other than maple syrup, but I very highly suspect that you could sub in 2/3 cup brown sugar for the maple and still get great results. I'm sorry I can't say with total certainty, but let us know if you try it and how it turns out! Thanks for the question. --Claire

I make a very similar recipe with Golden Syrup which is amazing. Its a lighter taste that can get lost in the pumpkin so I would use an additional vanilla bean. Alternatively, and sugary thick syrup could work.
