Thanks so much. This is the best guided session for anxiety I’ve tried! After several months of low anxiety I’m currently in a difficult setback so this video is very comforting. I like the idea of letting the anxiety symptoms have their own party while you carry on with your day - makes it less serious 🙏

Just found your work. This was great! Do you recommend doing this type of sitting practice once or twice a day, along with going loose throughout the day? I've had blurred vision and very intense pins and needles in my legs as well as jelly legs. I have to wear shoes all the time, the bottoms of my feet are so sensitive. I've been anxious all my life. Thank you for sharing this!

So, is having an emotional breakdown with a lot of crying and feeling despair letting it all happen or fighting? I was having a particularly intense morning with tons of adrenaline and scary thoughts. I was letting it all happen and going loose, but the thoughts kept pounding me and shooting adrenaline so hard that I was drowning in adrenaline and it overwhelmed me to the point of breaking down.
@openchangeau

It sounds like a necessary release of pent up energy and emotion which can happen, especially if we are starting to really allow and let go which can be hard when we are not used to it. Keep going with it and you will get there!
@sgangwal57

Think of it as opening the flood gates. It will feel more intense at first, but eventually it will begin to settle. The key is to just not resist. Remember you are safe and this is not dangerous. You got this!

What do you do when feelings are unbearable, despite going loose? Sometimes it feels like I can't take one more second. Particularly at the beginning of a setback or during benzo withdrawal. Too depleted to exercise beyond walking.
@itsrinfinity
@itsrinfinity 6 күн бұрын
It feels like this for all of us healing our anxiety! Though it feels like you can’t take one more second, you most certainly can (unless you are actively dying), and already have, every time you had a panic attack in the past and naturally transitioned away from the peak of experience. Of course it feels like you are petting someone’s dangerous pet for the time being 😭lol. But your body’s ability to release and act on adrenaline is limited, and it will return to baseline no matter what. With this sure fact in mind, the only thing we can do is trudge on with our lives at present, handling things at whatever pace our tired minds are currently capable of. We can only be in one place at once- our mind or in our life, and quite naturally we will find ourselves focused inwards. Let this be. As you continue moving loosely about your daily activities at whatever pace you can presently handle, your inner wisdom will take care of all else for you. Sending the strength to loosen your way- it’s the only option for us, anyway❤️

Thankyou so much for sharing this for free Sam 🙏🦄 really awesome -was this like somatic meditation? This is the longest ive been able to "meditate" or "allow", for ages 🙏 really powerful. Super grateful if you could answer this: basically ive been doing NLP type brain retraining with a focus around neuroplasticity , to recover from chronic fatigue syndrome or ling covid (basically as i have learnt,its your nervous system stuck in fight/flight/freeze . Sndthetecare alot of habits and patterns and anxiety /fear loops and brain predictions that keep real symptoms going. But anxiety is a big part of the loop) hard to explain in a tiny comment here haha BUT question is: with the brain retraining ive dine its like redirecting your thoughts and patterns to what you do want, visualization etc. Ive read claire weeks book recently and watched your msin videos. What u teach resonates, but im just wondering if u think your approach of allowing or going loose is kinda a opposite approach to actively "changing your state thru what your thinking and visualization " (basically i want to use ur info, just not sure if these two ways are contradictory or not 🤣🙏🦄
@openchangeau
@openchangeau Ай бұрын
Great to hear Megan! My approach of allowing, is brain rewiring or neuroplasticity. Every time you allow, go loose you are creating or reinforcing new neural pathways to not take anxiety triggers, thoughts, symptoms so seriously. You are forming a calm response as opposed to a flight/fight reaction. So always ALLOW first, and if you want to then redirect or add in more positive thoughts, that's great, but sometimes people try to force the positive thoughts with an expectations to instantly feel better which can have the opposite effect.

@openchangeau
@openchangeau 12 күн бұрын
Going loose can be both floating and acceptance. If we go loose but are hoping or waiting for thoughts or symptoms to leave us, then we are not accepting.

👍 Very much appreciate the video. Question: When I go loose in response to thoughts, symptoms, etc., it involves a shifting of my attention to going loose; while I do this, do I consciously maintain awareness on the thoughts, symptoms, etc.? In other words, if you are shifting the attention to go loose, how do simultaneously have awareness of the thoughts, symptoms, etc.? Thank you.
@openchangeau
@openchangeau Ай бұрын
If your attention is on going loose, you don't need to have awareness of thoughts or symptoms. When your attention reverts back to thoughts or symptoms, you again allow them to be there as you gently switch back to going loose. Repeat as often as needed.

Sam - wanted to get your input on a question about intense feelings that I often get stuck on since I hear conflicting information about it (even within the Claire Weekes community) - when we experience intense feelings, should we 1) take more of a passive approach where we allow the feelings to be there and do their thing while we are present/open and go loose or is it more of 2) a active approach where we put our full attention/awareness in the parts of the body where we feel the feelings? I think what Claire Weekes and David teaches is more aligned with the 1) passive approach (as well as this practice session) but I have heard of others that say that active approach of more actively feeling the feelings and tracking sensations (without getting stuck on thoughts about them) can be helpful too (Claire Weekes might touch on this too). Would love your thoughts and perspective on this. Perhaps it is not so black or white.
@openchangeau
@openchangeau Ай бұрын
Good question - definitely option 1 is what I recommend Chris. Remember it's not totally passive - you can go loose while thoughts or symptoms rage as we walk to the kitchen, make a coffee, go to the supermarket etc. Option 2 is great if it works for you, but I think allowing and going loose is far easier. Allowing = facing and accepting Going loose = floating I understand the idea of observing and tracking but we can very quickly get consumed by the intense sensations if we do this.

So I understand thoughts, they can be random and unusual and just plain strange but what about triggers? Different? My trigger is a thought… am I to allow the trigger to be there or face my trigger? Say my trigger was heights or the thoughts of being somewhere up high would I allow that to be a thought or if I’m in that situation do I stay and allow the actual “danger” anxiety makes you question everything.. it’s exhausting. I guess my question is do we treat a trigger the same as a thought?
@openchangeau
@openchangeau Ай бұрын
Anxious thoughts include thoughts ABOUT triggers i.e. height. So, yes allow them as you would other thoughts or sensations. If you are walking along a bridge and you start getting symptoms or thoughts about the height, you go loose and allow.
