it's not a motivation thing, it's an insecurity thing. or like, one day you put some mascara on and you realise you look nice. you get into makeup a bit, you think it's fun, you like spending a bit of time on it. next thing you know, you're used to doing it all the time and you think you look awful without it, and it becomes a crutch.

My impression is that most just like to look good. Calling them insecure just makes you sound.. jealous somehow. This coming from a woman that almost never wears make-up.
