Sam began her volunteering work for Magen David Adom, the Israeli Red Cross emergency service, as an EMT in 2015. Prior to this, she served two years in the Israeli Defense Force. Sam joined Station 32 in 2017 and eventually served as the 2nd EMS Lt. for two years. She received her RN license in 2020, became CCRN certified in January 2023 and has worked primarily in ICU settings. She currently works in the Trauma ICU of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center.
Nikki Austin, PhD, MA, RN, CEN, CNE, PHRN

Dr. Austin has been an EMS provider since 1975 and an RN since 1984. Areas of specialization have been adult critical care including cardiac, surgical, trauma, and prehospital air and ground transport. She has been an EMS provider in multiple states and is an active member of the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company. Dr. Austin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing at Towson University. She is certified in emergency nursing and nursing education.
