How can this video only have 12,000 views in 2 weeks?? It’s an all aluminum Ford 427 stroker! Most Ford guys would be all over this engine!! 👍🏻👍🏻

A factory 351w roller block 357ci with TFS 11R 190cc heads can make 595hp, a 408 with 11R 205cc heads can make 625-650hp, with a 4.030" bore. A 4.125" bore 9.5" Windsor (much less an aluminum Shelby block)that isn't making over 650hp is kind if a waste. Only building 427ci is a waste too when 438, 441 or 454CIs with a 4.1", 4.125" or 4.25" crank could have been done just as cheaply and easily.

The stacks are appropriate for the GT40 but I'd love to see this in a Fox Mustang with the Hi-Ram intake. Those torque numbers will pull the car hard off the corners.

Aaaahhh....nice build. High dollar alright. I'm building an FE with a CS aluminum block so I'm very familiar with the cost incurred here. Although with all the well spent money and custom parts....an 0.080 5/16" pushrod is still used. Hmmmm, I know a lot look at the hydraulic lifter as a shock absorber and feel that deflection of the pushrod isn't a factor.....🤔

See a couple of silly comments here about the chosen 6400 redline. It's because engine builders often have absolutely no idea anything about the gearing of the vehicle their engine gets plonked into, so that's the "peak" performance compromise.. With an automatic hung on the back it could be an extra 200-400rpm (sometimes way more than that with shadetree built transmissions) past 6400 before the trans finishes an upshift. Gotta think about that stuff. It would be criminally stupid to send a high-dollar motor out the door with just an absolute peak "here's where your valve float will start" number, because that's exactly where he's gonna upshift, with absolutely 0 margin of safety for overspeed. Thinking that stuff all the way through is how races are won by vastly inferior cars

Sick build but wrong cam for the self imposed redline
@brendanboozer3802

So since they didn't want to rev it out higher, wouldn't they theoretically benefit from a smaller cam that might produce peak power earlier and might provide better torque? (Genuine question, hopefully someone can tell my yes or no and why)

Did they explain why they decided to tune with speed density and not alpha-n? From what I have seen, its easier to tune an ITB car on alpha-n instead of trying to smooth out the map reading with a hole in each runner.

Why would you build an engine that redlines below its power peak? Either put in better springs or back 5 degrees off that monster camshaft. I would prefer the latter as it will help the car get out of the corners.

I'm a little shocked by the cheapy fibre head gasket.... I mean they've been fine for 75yrs, but what's 50 bucks in a build like this? Why wouldn't you just do MLS? Is it a racing class thing?

Something doesn't add up, with 9.5" deck Windsor a 4.25" crank and a 6.200" rod you use a 1.165"-1.175" ch piston. How is this a 4" crank with a 6.250" rod and a 1.225" ch? That comes up a little short of zero unless the block is milled down. Seems like a waste to not go at leaat 438ci with a 4.125" bore and 4.1" stroke, 441ci with a 4.125" bore abd 4.125" stroke, if not 454ci with a 4.125" bore and 4.25" stroke. Just leaving free power and torque on the table for no cost savings and the same amount of work. A 4.1", 4.125" or 4.25" stroke engine can still easily and reliabibly rev and make power to at least 7000rpms these days with no problems. I would imagine that block should be capable of at least a 4.175"-4.185" bore making 466-468ci, not just 461ci.
@rockets4kids
@rockets4kids Ай бұрын
You are correct. These blocks can be taken out to 460. But I'm betting the owner of this car is never planning to drive it in anger.
