Superbly done Matt, I have to say I like the “talk over style” of the video - very professional indeed. You sure are one talented guy, the cage looks amazing and must have strengthened the whole vehicle no end. It must also as you said give you peace of mind that it will be extremely safe to go racing in. Brilliant.

I always enjoy your fabrication videos and track days, so as a mini fan I'm enjoying this and looking forward to seeing you put it through its paces. FYI; For the un-initiated, the only two jacking points on a mini are those in the sills. The four square swatches on the underneath of the floor were brackets used to jig up the shell in the factory during production. They're always mistaken for jacking points which leads to damage and rust. This is why its recommended to jack up on the sub-frames and why racers often add sill tubes for jacks and stands.

I remember watching the minis race in the Australian Bathurst 1000 on Mount Panorama. There should be several archived videos of minis bouncing around like squash balls with doors flying off like some sort of comedy skit and the drive walking away or even trying to continue to drive if they happened to land back on their wheels.

Great roll cage. You've only got to look at the crashes on older race footage with minis rolling to see how they can crumple ( I think there is one on a film from Crystal Palace that shows it well ).

Fantastic work chap. There’s a lot to be said for getting a job done. I’m always fighting the perfectionism complex, it’s true what you say, better to get it done and enjoy using it; than spending your entire time getting it done. It’s a fine line. If it’s not right and you can’t live with it, then do it again. Impressed with your mig skill. I’ve never been much good with a mig, despite having a coding or two in the past. Much quicker and less awkward than Tig!
