I see two big problem with your repair. First, control the washout on thé car before welding the panel and use a flat jammer tot tap on the Edge Stapling

You have to weld also the corners on the upper part panel, around the windows frame( they tend to always crack in the time) and also make one spot weld the lower section near the two lower corners of the door. The panels tend to move lightly if you twist the window frame. Love your roll cage. Really nicely done!

I've watched a few door skins being done before & I've enjoyed watching this video. I've door skins to do on mine & you've made it look really easy. Hopefully I'll be able to copy your easy to follow guides. I'm going back to watch this build as I've just found your channel 👍.

Why haven't you put sealer between the door and the new door skin when folding the edge?
@malcolmyoung78663 жыл бұрын
Painted both the panels with some kind of coating.. seam sealer can go over the seam where both panels meets . As mentioned he also put sealer around the bottom section where water would accumulate.
@RallyeRacin93 жыл бұрын
@@malcolmyoung7866 Moisture can not only get in the gab from outside but also from the inside of the door. When there is sealer/glue between the gaps there can't be moisture. In automotive engineering today is e.g. common practice to glue the wheel arch sections instead of welding for rust prevention

Very neat job, only thing forgotten was trial fitting on car to remove any twist from door then put a few spot welds around outer edge to stop flexing - but he probably did that off camera 👍
@mikeymike73603 жыл бұрын
Yep totally agree. If i remember i used to put a couple of spot welds first then trial fit the door to check the correct alignment and gaps. There's quite a bit of adjustment in the fitting of those door skins. Takes me back to the good old days of working on Minis.

Excellent work! Next job, put it in the door aperture and see how badly it fits then have to build up the edges with weld to get good door gaps! 🤣 nothing on a mini was ever perfect

@SalvageMasterEssex3 жыл бұрын
Whats the point, aluminium and steel corrode like hell when in contact so better off to use the steel skin and make sure it's properly seam sealed and Waxoyled inside once car is painted 👍
