I would not save mana pots. Pop them 1-2 min in and then again after the cd wears off

Why no mention of the HOTW/NS build. I raid and maintank heal with pretty close to top parse numbers because of my huge mana pool. I dont put out as large of heals but i am able to cast faaaaar longer than most other healers.

Imagine any other class being forced to give up an ability to someone else that would save them from having to use expensive mana pots. Power Infusion, sure, but it's not the same. If you are competitive at your healing, you'll be in just as much need of that innervate as the priest or the mage. Imagine if mages could give their evocation to another person, and the raid leader demanding it. Guess the mage can wand for a while huh?
