What he said about tired, played out, forced in multiplayer is spot on. The Tomb Raider reboot could have been my single favorite game of all time had there been more time put in to the single-player to give it some replay ability rather than trying to make third-person CoD team deathmatch BS. Not every game needs a multiplayer mode.

Here's a fun trick: On the title screen, quickly press: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Square, X If done correctly, you will hear Danny Glover's voice saying, "OK pussyface, it's your move." Then Raikov will appear as a playable character. Your mission will be to try and get near as many guards within a time limit, and let them feel your crotch while swinging your blade.

I want to thank and congratulate you on being the first person to review this game who both knows and has play other platinum games. So many reviews for this game had never heard of vanquish and may have never played bayonetta and as such just did not get the ridiculous action and cutscenes.

When i saw the adverts for this it did not really appeal to me at all (my sword can do many things). I was never a fan of the metal gear series in general but after watching this review I am definitely going to get this game. Thanks

Activate Blade mode by holding L1 then use the right analog stick for more precise cuts, square for automated horizontal cuts and triangle for automated vertical cuts. That how it works in the PS3. The Xbox 360 may have a similar control scheme.

That's what I love about Clover/Platinum. They make and made games that feel like games and are great fun. They don't include out of place minigames or game mechanics that pad to the game's length but just try to make the game experience itself as fun as possible. Besides they're still packed with content and extremely replayable.

For some attacks that can not be parried, grabs and some heavy blows, the dodge attack is more useful, especially in the final boss battle.

I'm glad he didn't focus on the shortness of the game too much,as there is actually quite a bit of replay value.From different collectibles,to several achievements that are actually fun to get,to the VR missions, and of course getting unlockables,it actually has a decent amount to offer.I have over 40 hours after getting all collectibles, unlockables,and most of the achievements,along with just playing for the fun of it here and there.If you like this sort of thing,you'll get your money's worth.

I, for one, respect there not being a dodge mechanic like DMC, GoW or Bayonetta. I find, in games with both the option to dodge and the option to block, that I dodge way more than I block. I therefore commend Platinum and KP for only having the parry mechanic, forcing the player to really master the way it works if they want to be competent at the game. Also, you can slice watermelons.

Raiden went back in time to train with Joe Musashi. That's the only explanation I have for all this Sega Shinobi/Binary domain/ Vanquish style in the metal gear universe. I must play this.

There are only 3 weak points for this game: 1-The Guard glitch makes it too easy(but this can be fixed by either not using it or a patch). 2-The camera tends to fail at times. 3-It's too short,which for $60 is a little too much. Buy it when price drops or rent it!

I just got done playing another Platinum Games release today which was Vanquish.It, ev was very hard, but I felt it was supposed to be like a Bullet Hell third person shooter. What a hybrid. I am looking forward to playing this game I hear nothing but good things.

With practice you can stealth in most areas. It dose force you into fights a lot but it is a hack n slash. It would be nice if riden could do more stealth things, like crouch, but the game is fun even with the fact platinum is on the cover.

1-Yes,but in the introduction level he has the jaw again and in te fight with Sam he didn't cut it.Even if the events of this game were after MGS4 it still doesn't explain it. 2-I thought they only gave tips,since I heard them the first couple of hard fights thinking that they were bosses(like the Bladewolf). 3-I hope so man, and I hope there are some with the MG Ray to cut them into pieces.

Didn't the people who made Vanquish also help in creating this game? Vanquish was a surprisingly good futuristic cover shooter ...ON ROCKET BOOTS! Lots of fun and Disco Robots. The heavy use of cut-scenes describing progressively more asinine material was what soured me to the Metal Gear franchise, but perhaps I'll try this in a few months when the price comes down (no rush).

Mark is right about tacked on multiplayer. More recent examples being from Square Enix Eidos with Tomb Raider 2013 and Nintendo (Why, Ninty? Why? I thought you were better than this) with Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

Solid Snake needs more exposure, he's had two titles to call his own in three generations. Although, I do agree. Raiden needs way more exposure, the closure of the character at the end of two and then his appearance in four as the ruthless cyborg ninja puzzled me a little bit.

1. All bosses are great with their OWN vocalized theme songs 2. I do agree. I wish they peppered more missions 3. Metal Gear is a 2D stealth game that Kojima first worked on. Metal Gear "Solid" is where 3D graphics were installed. Finally Metal Gear "Rising" is just an awesome spin-off where I finally accepted Raiden as an awesome character. Right now I am 'shitting' in my pants for Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain AKA Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes

I enjoyed the game a lot. It one of few games today to have a learning curve, in terms of the parry and certain combos. Being a huge fan of MG I wasn't disappointed. And this game could of gone horribly wrong.

In the VR missions, in doing the S rank on all missions on higher difficulties, collecting all the left arms, all archive data, all wigs, all costumes. You know this is an arcade-like game so it has a lot of replay value. You would know that if you actually played the game.

this is a remake of the vectrex version dude, the original one kicks ass
