Mark, another great video mate. We're having a T6.1 built for us and I've taken a leap of faith and gone for gas free (twin induction hob) based on the Clayton LPSII 2000 with 230W solar input. No massive off grid periods planned just a night or two so hoping it'll be ok for our needs (Dry hair and coffee!).

@@jamescollins4489 It’s usually under the bed seat facing forward or backwards. Some put it in the lower kitchen units. I’m building a T6.1 myself and my gut feel is under the bed pointing forward so it’s accessible via a hinged door

I just don't think it is front of mind when people are considering it. Battery size is important but its simply a buffer. How much buffer everyone needs before their next drive is wildly different depending on how they use their van.

Retrofitting into a standard van would be interesting to understand ?
@ahoyleisure Жыл бұрын
Yeah. The application for trade vehicles is super high especially for SME joiners, welders, builders etc. But older motorhomes is a bigger one too. My father and mother in law have an older motorhome and i’m considering retro fit in their van. I’ve already done a reccy and I think I’ve sussed it.

Now we did notice this when the power was turned right up. But tbf there never seems a need to go over power 3 on the Tefal or you burn the food. I would imagine 800w per hob for anyone selecting either an integrated or separate induction hob is plenty.

QUESTION: Is the Clyton Running your interior lights as well?
@ahoyleisure9 ай бұрын
So we have two sets; We have about 4 long led lights inlay within the kitchen units which run off the Clayton Power unit via a simple 12v blade fuse box. These are all dimmable by touch. Then we have two very long led lights inlay in the ceiling which I connected to the old van interior lights. These fade in and out on lock/unlock or on entry but can be turned off via the existing dash button or the existing rear button just inside the rear doors. It made the wiring simple and has worked really well over the last couple of years so i’m glad we went that route.

I assume you have solar power? If not, get it to keep topping up the battery and power your hob due the day and night. Then there’s hookup and vehicle alternator to leisure battery topup as well. Then, as a last resort buy a wee camping gas stove for emergency.
@ahoyleisure Жыл бұрын
Yeah we have gas it was just a fun test. Yes we have 400w of solar panels on the roof set in mixed parallel and series to keep the vintage under 50v. The Clayton is great in that it all the charging is concurrent. In theory although not practical 🤣 solar, alternator and mains charging can be all done at the same time.

Hi Mark Have you tried running your truma boiler from this and 240 alone? Can’t find your website, as I stupid lol
@ahoyleisure Жыл бұрын
No you are not stupid, we don’t have a website yet. Would you believe my main business is a branding and web agency too 🤣 cobblers children never have any shoes. I have yeah. We ran out of gas on a trip to the highlands in winter. We couldn’t get more gas as we needed to swap a comparable bottle but we have safefil bottle. Anyway we would use the truma on electric only, just to keep the chill of the van. So we set it to about 12 degrees from memory. We would run it through the night and then just start the engine for an hour in the morning to recharge it. Worked better than we thought. We’ve also ran the water on electric while driving to heat it with electric while driving to save gas. The video is here we ran it in 900w kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYakpWN4opaLg6c You’ve just give me an idea for another video ⚡️⚡️🤙

Diesel heaters and boilers are terrible for the environment as there’s no catalytic converters after the unit and therefore chucking out terrible toxic fumes all around your van.
