Finally got around to hiding the wires after hardwiring (used your video in conjunction with Google to do that - super helpful). Something I found very helpful is that when you take off the cap over the lights/mirror towards the back side there is an opening where you can easily shove any extra wiring. Mine was too long by a lot and that was a perfect place to “store” the excess. Helpful video as always - glad you’re around so I have videos for all the stuff I’m doing with my A4!

thank you for this video, i have an Audi A4 2017 also and i was going to pay someone to install my dashcam (hardwired). This saved me so much money, it was "sorta simple" and took me about 2 hours. Front and rear cam. thank you!

thank you for showing me how difficult that is, you actually just saved me from a lot of trouble! I'll just stick to the 12V cord hanging off the middle of my windshield.. lol

No problem! It’s not too bad if you’re willing to spend a few hours stuffing the wires (you could pull the trim but the clips break very easily so you’d have to find replacement ones haha)

Thanks for doing this. I'm about to install one and this will be helpful.

Glad to help! Wiring is pretty straightforward, hiding the wires was the biggest pain given how tight the space is
@imthestighonest34372 ай бұрын
You may want to redo the wires on your drivers side a polar you have run the wires across the airbag and it will not deploy properly if needed

@@DIYDetail Are you located in the tri-state area? I just bought a Uniden R3 and I’m confident I can do most of this install except for the fuse box part. Do you know of any shops that have done this type of install on B9 A4s? Thank you
@DIYDetail3 жыл бұрын
Yeah! I’m not 100% sure if they’ll be able to install it but I think they can. Try calling Eurotech Motorsports in Mahwah or Quattrohaus in Newark

For the constant power fuse for the interior lights that you used for the dashcam, which fuse number in the middle fusebank is the correct fuse? Did you also tap a fuse for switched power for the dashcam?

What about the battery wire for the dash cam? I only see acc and ground?
@creationsmv62012 жыл бұрын
Why you not connected dashcam to doom light, it is easer way or not? And acc you could take from rain sensor

I’ve been trying to follow this video step by step, just wanted to clarify on something. You lost me a bit at 9:03. Where did you run the wire when you got to those mirror electronics in the middle? Under the top clips or under the whole housing? Thanks again
@DIYDetail3 жыл бұрын
I ran the wire through the headliner (not through the housing). You can run it through the housing but then the wire gets crimped when you put the cover back on. You can slightly pull the headliner down and stuff the wire all around the mirror housing

What fuse did you use for the radar detector? I have a S5 and was trying to use the fuses up by the dash and they wouldn’t turn off with the car. It stayed on at all times.
@DIYDetail4 жыл бұрын
Hey! I tapped into the Homelink fuse under the dead pedal. I had the same problem when using the side panel fuses. I haven’t had an issue so far with the Homelink fuse

Yessir, home link was the winner. Great vid

Thx for sharing. What type of fuse tap did you use for this specific car (I have a 2019 Audi A4, I assume it is similar)? ATC, ATS, Mirco2 or Mini?
@DIYDetail4 жыл бұрын
No problem! These are Mini’s I believe

Why would you want your camera to have constant power without keys? Wouldn't it drain the battery?
@DIYDetail3 жыл бұрын
For parking mode (it’ll record while the car is off). The camera uses very little battery when the car is off (roughly 3amps). There’s a built-in voltage detector so if the battery is less than 12v, it will automatically turn off without damaging the battery.
@creationsmv62012 жыл бұрын
Someone knows the model of rain sensor connector?
@sebastiantu62123 жыл бұрын
Why not hardwire into the mirror with wiretaps?
@DIYDetail3 жыл бұрын
That only allows the camera to be on when the car is on. You need an active 12V source when the car is off to use parking mode
