Since I discovered your channel I feel way less overwhelmed with cleaning because of all the wisdom you taught me (dry dusting, baking soda is a super hero, cleaning the toilet). Also every time I see a video of you it is soooo easy to just getting started. Thank you, you may not realise how big an impact you have on people’s lives ❤️

I know I’m having a tough time when I don’t clean my kitchen. Most nights after dinner even if I don’t feel like doing dishes, I know in the morning it will put me in a bad frame of mind to walk in to a dirty kitchen to make my coffee and breakfast. Always thinking of future me 😂

Great vlog Melissa. I definitely am that person who cannot be productive if my environment is cluttered or untidy. I would be distracted. I find that starting in one small area or doing one small task motivates me to then do another and so on until I’ve done more than I set out to do. I never go to bed leaving the kitchen in a mess. Waking up in the morning to a clean kitchen really makes me feel like I can tackle the day ahead. That might mean a late night if we’ve been entertaining but worth it when you look around and see it all back to normal.

I sometimes use feng shui when I clean. Meaning: if I don´t have a lot of energy, I focus on the areas of the house, that - according to feng shui - have to do with your wellbeing: the middle of any room. I´m not a professional feng shui consultant, I just took a class a couple of years ago 😊

Very true! A clean kitchen makes your whole load seem lighter. For me, it's the same with floors. IDK why, but my house feels bigger after I run the vacuum and sweep/mop the floors: it's like magic. On low energy days, I prioritize dishes/sink, just like you. I need to be able to prepare food to replenish my strength LOL! And that's another strategy I like: promising myself a tasty treat if I just get a few chores done. Thanks Melissa!

So today was a crazy day from the moment I woke up, I have a hubby under the weather, and a dog that has got a bit of an injury so she needs extra attention and care, and after I sat down to eat finally at almost 8 pm for the first time today I headed to the sink which has been neglected since the rest of the family's breakfast....I thought to myself "It has been a rough day, I will just leave the dishes and deal with it tomorrow".... So while procrastinating and scrolling through KZbin, your video came up and I talked myself into just doing the dishes while I listened to you encourage me and even if that's all I do it's better than if I just left it. So thank you for the motivation!

Awesome ideas Melissa, I needed this as a disabled person who had a fall. I'd recently bought products from Maker's Clean to help me deal with the cleaning issues that I encounter. I learned about you several years ago about making my own cleaning mixes and I still use them today with the Maker's Clean products. However, I still get overwhelmed, since my most recent fall that requires, orthopedic care. I must say, thank you for all that you do, Melissa! Coming from Maryland, USA. Monique S.

Definitely helpful!! I struggle w chronic pain, and some days all I can do is load the dirty dishes and wipe down the counter tops… and the same thing w the bathroom- clean the toilet or only the vanity… how do you eat an elephant? Just one bite! And sometimes it takes me a week to clean my house for the basics, other days I can do all the basics in one day… thank you for acknowledging that some days are struggles and that there are short cuts for those days!

9:00 This is kind of goofy, but it does work for us. When those days hit that we are not feeling really motivated to clean, we will watch an episode of one of the TV shows on hoarders. Ironically, we have found it gives that extra little bit of motivation to get up and clean.

I divided the chores with my husband but I’m still left with the daily evening reset, cooking, and cleaning up. My trick is not resting until it’s all done and focusing on the essentials, just like you mentioned. Lately, I’m pushing myself to tackle the windows, paint all the woodwork before the rainy season, and wash the terrace. I have to divide it into 30 minutes of tasks because it feels overwhelming. 😢
@carlygreen22934 ай бұрын
I've got the same end of the workload over here, haha! And I find it makes the BIGGEST difference by chunking up chores to 10-15 mins throughout the day to keep the "closing shift" from being too overwhelming. Oh! And while your eating is the best time to let any dishes you used to cook with do a lil soak if it needs it. We've got this!! Praying for the energy every evening always helps, too❤

My best motivator for cleaning my kitchen is my little kitty. Apparently he just loves clean counter tops so much, that if I don't clean them, he will. And since his way of cleaning is just drop everything to the floor, I rather do it myself before I have a huuuge mess on the floor.😁🤭 We have an agreement, that I can have my coffee maker on my counter top and a kettle on the stove top. Everything else will end up on the floor sooner or later if I get too lazy. 🤷♀️😁😻🐈

Mess and clutter definitely makes mental health worse . I am physically and mentally incapacitated and when my house is a mess my self care suffers , I get more depressed and I don't do any of the other important things. In fact I procrastinate my big problems more but it isn't just the visible mess that affects me , it is also electronic clutter and mess that overwhelms me. If my home computer files are a mess, files not backed up and cleaned out, emails not filed etc, I am also overwhelmed by that and then I have to decide between what clutters my mind before. I have trouble prioritising what mess to clean up and then it gets difficult if I am too tired or in pain. No doubt about it. Mess + clutter = more depression

In my tiny apartment, my (undersized) kitchen is hardly a refuge: it’s the very first thing that you see coming in the door, and the space that’s impossible to avoid. for those reasons alone, however, maybe I should make an extra effort to keep that one room, clean, if nothing else, and let everything fall into place from there…

I'm slowly going through my house doing a deep clean and decluttering. I'm hitting areas that have been neglected for too long. Every drawer and cupboard I get through makes me feel just a bit better. I deep cleaned the fridge and freezer last weekend and I'm amazed at how much better I've been feeling mentally. Even the stress of the workweek didn't get to me like it usually does. It's so hard to clean when you feel down, but with every space you get through, you'll feel a little better (at least I do). I'm not good at getting rid of things, but donating some stuff I don't need that was just taking up space is making room in my brain, too. Sounds cliche but it's true. Just do one drawer or cabinet - take everything out, clean the surface, then evaluate each thing and organize as you put it back (if you put it back). Soon you'll get on a roll.

Gotta try to get psyched up like an Olympian training for the different cleaning events: floors, dishes, counters, deep-clean, windows, stainless, granite, wiping, squeezing out the sponge or mop or rag properly, managing rinse water etc Difficult to do without the knowldege or the tools or without prepping the body. A snack, some electrolytes, a moment to meditate and plan and then into the fray! Good audio helps. Audiobooks, music, podcasts are good to have ready so you don't get trapped browsing. Make a playlist and keep it fresh / don't overuse it. YT's Watch Later playlist is great for this. Also, movies/tv/streaming with audio descriptions is like listening to a great radioplay. But before the dishes the real first event is removing as much garbage and unnecessary items from the environment as possible. Pump yourself up to take out the trash and recycling, then put in a new trash bag and start working through what's left behind in stages or phases. Putting the biggest stuff into the dishwasher first is a great start. Then stack the smaller things, removing fiid bits and grime directly into the teash before stacking then in and around the sink. Clean and straighten other kitchen areas until there is room for a drying mat r dishtowel to put the big things down because they will air dry while you load the dishwasher with the neatly stacked smaller items. They should fit well into the dishwasher, and once they are in process, you can move more stacked dishes to the sink, wiping them out first into the garbage or soaking them with soap and warm water in the sink. Then clean the counter those dishes were on and figure out where to put the big dishes away. Then you can touch up the cabinets and appliances until the dishes are done again. And then you can clean the floors and the sink once the last load has been run. 😤
