My grandmother washed her home’s baseboards every week, and my mother did it for several years after she married. A bit excessive but there are several theories about the increase in sinus problems and respiratory allergies in the last 50 years. Some researchers attribute it to not thoroughly cleaning our homes, which allows dust to settle on all surfaces and into fabrics & carpeting. Wall-to-wall is particularly notorious for respiratory issues, no matter how well we clean. As a certified ENT RN, I can tell you the bare floors in your home (I love the color) are a very good thing to have in a desert climate with so much dust. So, wipe those baseboards Ladies when doing a complete room refresh just like Nikki!! Clean is Good!

I love the care you put into this room. I am always amazed that people neglect their bedrooms. To me its the most important room for your peace and tranquility. At the end of the day, a luxurious fluffy bed, a small vase of flowers, a glowing candle... maybe a good book on the nightstand and a warm cup of tea.... ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Yes, schedules are critical for happier, more productive day but being flexible with the good, bad and surprises helps relax us. After all self-preservation is a most valuable resource. 💗

I do spritz a little of my favorite perfume on our light bulbs so when we turn them on the house just smells so delish! I do not like heavy perfumes so they are all very light. Just enough.

The lovely room refresh makes me want to do a deep clean of my own bedroom.🌸💖The concept of keepings ones bedroom the most orderly and maintained room of the whole house in order to feel like things are under control is such a guiding concept. Whenever I feel cranky, uninspired, out of sorts I find that along with taking things to the Lord in prayer, going to my bedroom to declutter, rearrange or clean is always such a mood booster. 🙏🏻☺️

Ohmigosh! The bolt cutters! Thank you for the inspiration and for keeping it real. Caring for my baseboards enough to get down there and scrub them by hand was life-changing for me. I also love how you give yourself space and time to be creative and beautify while you're deep-cleaning. It's so easy for me to get going as fast as possible and I appreciate the reminder to breath, slow down, and stay mindful as I work.

The room looks so lovely and refreshed 💕 When I had sheers similar to yours I would wash them every six month. The room always smelled amazingly after. I love my version of our home which I consider “ My Fairy Tale Home”. Although my children have grown, I still hear their laughter. I have just one wish. You are using a baking bowl like mine when you,re washing.It feels so unhygeic, better to use a proper bucket. Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate your thoughts about using a bucket. Buckets to me aren't as beautiful or comfortable to carry so I use a mixing bowl, just as my Mother and Grammy did and her mother before her and so on. In order to keep it hygienic, thoroughly wash when finished. This gets me thinking of all the many things we use the bowls for that if not properly cleaned could be unhygienic, like raw chicken or pork.

Hi Nikki, I know we liked the tide delicates for the “dry clean” dresses and I used it for things like curtains etc. I wondered if you found anything else you’d like since they discontinued it? I tried the Laundress and I wasn’t as impressed. Woolite was OK but no real scent. I don’t want to ruin those GMG dresses that I had to work so hard to earn :-) . Did you use regular detergent for your delicate linens today? If anyone has suggestions for a delicate laundry soap I’d love to hear it! Thank you, be blessed everyone
