Well... I was there just yesterday, May 14, 2020... and.... it was pristine. Not decades.... it's beautiful. Now, I'm coming from Maryland, having to stay with family on LI.... big changes, go, realize to be responsible and respectful.

funny, i'm a native md'r who also found my way to lake ronkonkoma as a kid in the 80's. My dad grew up there and I spent every spare second in the summer fishin the lake and ponds in the area. glad to hear its been cleaned up. Used to love to get pizza at little vincents, fish off the parkin lot at the bavarian inn. One of the best places to fish was the floatin docks at the kiss bar, at least until patrons started to show up, then we'd haul ass away from there lol I won a ice fishin tournament there one year and my father I released about 100 brook and rainbow trout we had caught elsewhere into the lake, I always wondered if any of those fish lived.

As teens we grew up by the lake. Skated Sevs or B. I. and hung out in the beach parking lot. It was never somewhere youd swim in or eat fish out of.

Its nice that people are cleaning garbage out of the lake but some of the natural obstructions such as tree limbs and rock piles should be left in the lake as they provide cover and shelter for aquatic life in lake ronkonkoma.

Lake ronkonkoma VS lake junk yard. Who remembers the little park right next to lake ronkonkoma were the lifeguards used to be and stuff they knocked it down anybody remember?

It had been bad like that as far back as the early 1970s. You could still catch fish, but were well advised not to eat.
