Disk Drill create a byte-to-byte backup which means that it takes even free space, so for 1TB backup image file you should have about 1.1-1.2TB of free space on another physical drive. You can specify From and To parameters to make a partial backup: www.cleverfiles.com/help/dmg-iso-backup.html

If you don't have enough space on your device to run a scan and process recovery, you can either free up space on your Mac, or connect an external drive and use it as Disk Drill's workspace. To do that, please open Disk Drill Preferences -> "Choose folder" and select your external drive in the Workspace folder.
