I think Tess not being able to move was done to sell the effects of the infection. They were definitely playing it up more here in the show than the game. And it makes sense considering where the bite was.

@@CrazeeAdam yeah thats how i saw it as well, she figured if she made sudden movements she might just get "ripped apart" as they mentioned earlier. so if she just kept still she had more time to try and carry out the plan

Yeah and to portray that it really is a network that the fungus is forming. The infected could sense that she was turning and wanted to connect with her. Because they don’t aim to kill but to control. And she “froze up” because she could feel the connection the infection were feeling and was starting to get drawn too them and the network, and she had just enough fight in her left to light the lighter and drop it. Which I think still shows how badass she was, because she didn’t give into it easily and kept fighting it.

@@captgeech I don't think so. Remember in the first episode how the guy on the floor had his hands frozen up in the air, but was able to speak still and ask for help. I think part of the process is freezing all your motor functions until they fully take over.

The Director and writers wanted to treat it realistically and if they went with spores they would have to wear gas masks constantly and wouldn't be able to see the depth and emotion of the characters. Not to mention spores would be everywhere compared to certain areas in the games. It was a logistical stand point they decided to use the fungi network which is a true thing. In the podcast the Director said Tess was married and had a kid. Both her husband and kid got infected, she killed her husband but couldn't kill her son and locked him in the basement. Which is why Tess shows more feelings toward Ellie

Diesel is not as combustible as gasoline. You can throw a match in diesel, and it will just go out. She was infected, and it had already started taking control of her mind, that's why he/it didn't attack her violently

I dig the little throwbacks to the game. Joel keeping the baggie in ep 1. representing the scavenger aspect, Ellie playing with the knife when she’s bored like if you don’t touch the controller are cool little Easter eggs.

You asked why she let the stalker kiss her... She did it, so she can light the fire .. quietly (or they hear her).. so that her sacrifice does not go in vain... If she just pushed the stalker away, it would trigger a strong reaction making the other infected attack violently as well and she wouldn't be able to light the fire in time.... _"Why did she let him?"_ I thought it was obvious lol

Tess didn't freeze though... her whole mission was to keep trying the lighter to make sure she blew up the building. That was kind of her only move cause if she tried to run or fight, she would've got overtaken and definitely wouldn't have been able to light the place up. So she didn't freeze... she was strategic if anything.

47:03 one fact about using stunt doubles is that they don't come in hand only for dangerous / body demanding scenes, but they also prevent the production to be postponed or jeopardized because the leading actor got injured during the filming of a running scene, for instance. Even if it's something minor such as spraining one's ankle. But yeah, I too would want to make all, or at least most of the scenes myself. However, sometimes the actors are not even allowed to request this, unless they're Tom Cruise. 😆 Anyways, I'm loving to watch you guys react to it

Tess stood still because she would've been dead if she didn't. That was an entire room of infected. Had she tried to fight back she would've been ripped apart in seconds by the dozens and dozens of them. It's pretty obvious and ya'll saying they made her act like a little B was just weird

I'm not a gamer at all but watched it because of all the hype. Plus, a lot of reactors I watch had been talking about it forever and I couldn't wait. Glad I watched. I've watched a couple game run throughs, including g yours, since it started. You were talking when they said they couldn't seee but could hear which is why they told Ellie be silent.

Nope, a sparking flint will come nowhere close to igniting diesel. You can literally throw a match into a puddle of diesel and it will go out. If anything, the fully lit zippo might not have been enough.

seems to me a good way to get rid of infected would be to trigger an infected stampede and have a few dozen soldiers waiting for them at a fixed defensive position with flamethrowers and molotovs

Basing the fungus off of real existing science makes it extra creepy and it is great, loving the show so far, and Sarah is not only younger but Blonde in the game I believe, I have never played it, so it is natural to mention it, the actress playing her was amazing

the spore thing is just truer to life as thats how the actual fungi works, it doesnt make ants attack other ants and spread directly, not as far as im aware, having it airborne also makes it much more believable how it could spread so effectively, direct contact is a very inefficient transmission method.

But that would also mean that every human is already very dead and you wouldn't have a show. The way they treat spores in the game is not believable. Spores aren't located to certain places and when you take off the gas mask, you touch millions of spores, not to mention all spores attached to your clothes. You would be gone right away.

Even if you play All of us and you know the game events, it doesn't mean this show will repeat all of it, they change a lot of the scenes and add more so you can't say that you'll know what will happen next episode ,etc.. So overall it doesn't matter if you play the game or not.. You will not expect the unexpected..

She wouldn't have been attacked as the fungi knew she was already infected. In the first episode it was stated that once the fungi infects a person and takes control, it will keep the host alive and even keep the host from decomposing.

I haven't played the game. I don't play ANY video games. My bf is a gamer, though. I'm mostly here because he wanted to watch this, so I thought I'd check it out. (Also because of the 2 Game of Thrones cast members in it.) So you're wrong. There ARE people who've never played this game watching this. However, this is scaring the crap out of me, so I'm not sure if I'll make it through the whole series.

So, yeah, watched you over the years, but just got around to your “The Last of Us” reactions and yeah… some of Suzy’s comments in the ep one reaction- particularly the comments about the casting the actors who play Sarah and Ellie were pretty awful. To the point where you obviously felt the need to address the pushback in this video. All I can say is, if the people who think racism is a bad thing and shaming Bella’s looks isn’t cool are calling you out, and the racists and “anti woke crowd” are cheering you on… maybe rethink your lifestyle choices instead of doubling down. I know you think it’s “not that deep” for you… and it shows, but seriously… Do better.

Oh my god thank you. If it was an off handed comment in the first ep where she said, oh Sara doesn’t look like game Sara, then fair, because she doesn’t, but MULTIPLE TIMES she kept referring back to it like, why did they change it, and then he ended up having to be the one to say, it doesn’t actually change anything about the story if she’s a different race. Because it DOESNT. Nothing about race is ever brought up in the game and it isn’t a storyline for any character. Plus, we never meet her mother, so Sara can easily be mixed race due to that. And then commenting on bella’s looks and saying “poor Ashley” because he said they look a lot like Ashley is plain cruel. And to ban people instead of owning up to that leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

I think it was Pedro Pascal who was against the spores, because that would mean he'd have to wear a gas mask in some scenes and he already threw a hissyfit about having to wear a mask in The Mandalorian.
