Jimi, bon, Jimmy, John B, geezer, Bill W, Toni, Eric C, bucket, an singers I said Bon already buy Lane, plant, Andrew W, I could go on n on cliff was great but the list of greats is long at the age of 24. I mean just look at Black Sabbath in 1970. Each member was already a beast at their craft. Esp Wardy n Toni.

he was good, but not so amazing, a lot are better than him, at younger age, and , the most important they are still alive and are still pushing music farther, what tell you that cliff still has inspiration , like everybody saying he was young, and a young musician, even with great potential, no one can assure that he would keep this kind of composing skill, and maybe, it was hes only great idea, who knows... But even with all he has done, he was good yeah, but not even in the top 50 of best bassist of all time

Fade to black was absolutely released before Cliff died, considering its on their 2nd release and he died after their 3rd. As far as "To Live is to Die" the lyrics are taken from Cliff's poetry/lyrics, which begin with a line from the 1981 movie "Excalibur" (still the best Aurthurian legend movie ever btw) Merlin spoke regarding Aurthur's father Uthur, "When a man lies, he murders a part of the world..." "These are the pale deaths, and so on are absolutely Cliff, likely inspired by that one line to go further. I do hope James and/or mates knew where Cliff got the line from and I strongly suggest everyone watch it often. I watch it and I think of Cliff and what it must have been like to see that, at that time, as a metal head, talented musician, drawn to the fantasy, tales of wizards and folklore and ancient battles, Dungeons and Dragons, sci-fi, and so on. In 1981 I turned 5, I was turned on to Metallica when I was 9 and that was it, thrash and a new understanding of what a bass could mean. We all carried on, Jason is absolutely great in his own right, Metallica definitely lost touch around 1991 (in my opinion) but regardless, Cliff was a complete, unique, amazing human being, a real person, so real it seems unreal to fathom. Those 1st 3 albums are truly where its at. Thank you Cliff, and thank the gods for letting us have the transcendent eternal message and gift of your music.

I remember, 38 years ago... A man has died, a legend is born. I had just discovered Metallica (and also started trying to play bass!) and me and my friends were waiting for going to see them on the Master Of Puppets tour, that should have reached Italy in autumn of 86. Then came the news of Cliff's death... Few months later (January 87) they played here and it was surely an awesome concert, with Metal Church as opening band. Newsted did a great job, but we all would have preferred Cliff to be still there... Greetings!
