Do you know that Cliff Richard is one of only 6 male singers to have songs on the Billboard Top 40 charts in the 1950s, the 1960s, the 1970s and the 1980s. What a career this man has!!!

Here in the UK it's every decade since the 1950s, right up to now.

Love all of Cliffs music… 1958 to the present! He is fantastic. That was from the album Almost Famous!

This was a comeback single for Cliff after years of doing family television and gospel music (for which he was immediately dubbed uncool and written off by rock fans). “Devil Woman” was an almost shocking song for a singer who had been on gospel tours just prior. It also finally gave him a big hit in America and he followed it up with several more hits in the late 70’s/early 80’s.

His Now You See Me…Now You Don’t album is great too! Was “ gospel” songs but EMI actually promoted it and hit the charts because the songs were sooooo good as well as Cliffs delivery.

1976! AM pop radio feasted on this song back then. It was one of my favorites, with that dance beat and those spooky lyrics accented by haunting guitar lines, just right for grabbing the imagination of a nine year old kid. It reminds me of another hit from back then, "Jackie Blue" by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.

Gosh I’m trying to think what movie trailer I heard this in. It was a perfect fit. Very cool song. Reminds me of Witchy Woman by the Eagles and Evil Woman by ELO.

Lol, I was 4 years old when this song came out, and it scared the hell out of me. Of course, I took it literally and imagined a horned, green-skinned female devil attacking me from behind. Catchy tune though. :)

So Cliff did have hits before ONJ. I remember hearing the chorus before. Nice bop.

Cliff Richards has been a star in Britain since the late fifties, first as a Rock and Roll singer backed by the Shadows! Then as a solo artist! He is the third highest selling individual/Group in British chart history, only beaten by The Beatles and Elvis!
@bobbugwithoneeyeskingiskin89743 жыл бұрын
Side note… Apache by the Shadows was a favourite at block parties in the late seventies/early eighties in New York and was mixed with beats to create early Hip Hop!

He was number one in 1958 with Living Doll here in the UK, and he's had hits practically every year since then, and he's still going today.

@@EmpressReacts Yeah. He started out in the late 50s, trying to be England's answer to Elvis. Even doing the curled lip thing. But he just doesn't swing. He's got no soul. As you can tell, I'm not a fan
