im no artist, and I especially think harassing artists for their work isn’t acceptable, but I don’t think criticism is wrong. Revival is probably Em’s _most flawed_ album, the hate for it doesn’t appear from nowhere - he’s Eminem. even among his own fandom the album is contentious, I don’t think that’s a mistake.

My heart breaks thinking back on how it must have been for Em to write this song. He KNEW people would have a hard time accepting Revival and hate on it, because it's so different from what people were used to hear from him..... and he still put it out because he had a vision and an idea in his head. For everything he has meant to the fans since day one, they could have stuck by him and supported him, but no they turned their backs on him SMH

I feel like he could have tweaked like 3-5 songs on that album and literally it would have changed the entire narrative and mainstream perception of the album. It’s a great album to me and I listen to it all the time, there’s just a few songs I feel like felt out of place but other than that it’s a great project to me.

The fact that people heard this, and then continued to say "em fell off". I will admit the production on revival wasn't always on point. But you can tell his writing ascended on this album. I get that production is a big part of an album, but God damn, his actual writing and rapping is sooooo good

A lot of it was political unfortunately. As far as the fan base goes. This was right after he dissed Trump for things that were true and people found out were true later. Keep pausing when you want or need to. That is part of the reaction. Viewers appreciate how the music affects you. Pausing to go back or break something down is part of the reaction. The bar caused you to react. There is nothing wrong with that at all. In terms of Revival I would look at River with Ed Sheeran. It is deep and heavy, but amazing!

The last three albums have been fueled by the hate Revival got. He says that he’ll never let you live it down, and so far, he hasn’t. But, since Revival, he’s had a huge resurgence. So many fans sort of lost touch after Encore and Kamikaze made them remember that they loved Eminem. So, in that respect, it was the growing pains of his revival. Also, I think it’s on purpose that the first word of the album and the last are “why?” And “Now I Know.”

Long story short, Em put out the track list before the album dropped and Joe Budden and other podcasts didn't like it showed to have 9 features, assumed it would be pop music. He also dropped it right after his anti Trump Cypher, so people said he did the Cypher to push the album and or that they don't like political Em. People decided it was trash before it was released, after that they tried fiding any reason to back their premature decisions, and "production" seems to be the main complain with a little "unorthodox flows" sprinkled here and there. The album is a masterpiece for anyone that actually took time to listen and when it's all said and done it'll most likely be regarded as one of his best, lyrically imo

I think Revival was a real underrated album. I won’t even front on my first listen, I thought it was just ok but then when I sat down and really listened to it I ended up thinking it was a great album. And Walk on Water is a great song it has gospel elements in the song but it’s not gospel of course still a Hip Hop track, never understood the hate for it tbh. And let me give you a rundown of what this song in specific is about ~ Walk On Water is the first track off of Eminem’s 2017 album “Revival” and Believe is the second track off the album btw this album came before his 2018 album “Kamikaze” and his latest 2020 album “Music To Be Murdered By” so now Eminem starts rhyming from where he left off on the first track “Walk On Water”. Off the album Revival The track marks Eminem’s first take on a modern trap beat. His flow is slower and more unhurried than on previous tracks and features since his last album, which is notable as it corresponds to a passage on “Walk on Water”, the previous track on the album, where he mentions the public criticism of his rapid and choppy flow on recent works. The slower tempo also imitates the style of contemporary trap music. Yet, Eminem seems to denounce this style with his lyricism, making use of his trademark wordplay and imagery,Contentwise, the song is somewhat a U-turn to the previous song: On “Walk On Water”, Eminem was questioning himself and his ability to create new music that would appeal to his fans, while on “Believe”, he shows confidence and makes clear that he has faith in himself. Yet, throughout the song, one question stands above it all, and Eminem is posing it directly to his fans:Do they still believe in him? Now you might ask why well let’s take it back to when Em dropped “Recovery” Back In 2010 he announced on Not Afraid that he was on his sobriety path and that’s when this whole notion started and some fans/haters started saying “Eminem was better when he was on drugs” & “I like the old Eminem” etc. but Em since then has proved haters wrong with dropping albums like MMLP2,Kamikaze & Music To Be Music Murdered By And is The Best Selling Rapper Of All Time for a reason his longevity, wordplay, rhyme schemes, storytelling, flow, supersonic raps, great songs, relevancy etc.🙇🏽‍♂️🐐👑✨💯(Please React to Eminem “Offended” Next!)

I have to admit that i was one of those that didn’t like the album. I was born in 99 and grew up listening to 90’s hip hop, Em, 50 and so on and i stopped listening to hip hop after like 2011 because i just hated the direction hip hop took and all the poppy rappers and when Em Dropped revival i was sooo hyped, i expected a recovery or TES kinda album and i listened to walk on water and skipped the album completely. And when Em Dropped Kamikaze my love for hip hop got sparked back up again and i went back to revival and WOW, i was so embarassed by myself. In terms of storytelling, lyricism and just pure muscial talent revival is just amazing. When i went back and really listened to walk on water i shed a tear, Em poured his soul and heart in to the album, showed so much vulnerability. The whole album is just pure art and a masterpiece if you ask me.

Revival is all about his stage of life and what he's lived and learned, and what you thought you knew, but changes at this stage. From what I've seen, all who hated Revival didn't like it because they didn't relate. They wanted the life perspective of someone who was 22 because that's where they were mentally, either being young or those who haven't grown mentally. No one is going to be talking from a 22 yr old's life perspective when over 40, having lived, achieved, raised children. If they did, they'd be emotionally stunted, but those who haven't lived and grown, won't get it.

I'm so glad you reacted to this song & broke it down for us. I never heard it before & it seriously hit me hard. What he said about saving 'us' from despair is so true for me. When The Slim Shady LP 1st came out I was as low as a person can be, enough said, & nothing, absolutely nothing & no one seemed to help. I found that album & listened to it so many times I memorized every word. Eminem is without doubt a master wordsmith & unparalleled lyricist; they even study his lyrics at Oxford Uni as part of one of the undergrad English degrees. His music & his own personal struggle to rise above his beginnings helped me find the strength to try to start doing the same. Throughout the years I've found that whenever I need motivation, or feel the darkness creeping back in at the edges, I can always find inspiration in his music. I definitely 'still believe'! Don't worry about pausing Cliff. It's the fact that you do pause & break down the lyrics that makes your channel what it is. Great song & awesome reaction as always. xx

Don't know of it's slept on, but definitely underappreciated. People did listen to it and hated it through and through. But after marinated for a few years people have grown to appreciate it more much due to reaction channels breakdowns of the songs. To me this song has always been hard, very motivating and his rhyme schemes, bars, cadance, metaphors and punchlines are on point. Technically it's a masterfully crafted song and what he says is anything but empty... It's real talk. They didn't believe, and like he said he didn't let them live it down and so he dropped "Kamikaze" where he let everybody know what he thought of their opinions. Even on MTBMB side A & B he kept letting them know.

I would love it if you revisited some of the Em songs you reacted to when you first started. You have grown so much as a reactor since then.

Bro. This is the most I've heard off of Revival. I never heard it but I also never hated on it. Eminem is the GOAT dude. He can rap on all levels of hip hop. Also, I love your reactions bro. I can see how you the music, lyricism and passion for the art effects you not just as a fan, but as a writer and an artist yourself. This channel is great bro. Keep it up.

He is the Goat, I do Listen to him sinse 1999! Its been now 23 years. For me he is the greatest ever, his career is Destiny, you can feel it in almost every word, every Flow. He is different, you can feel his soul in his Song, the pain, the hope, the hate, the love...this is Not music, this is destiny

Immaculate breakdown and reaction my guy! I believe you caught all the bars there were to catch, and if you missed any, I missed them too 😂 After listening to this track, even though I wasn’t one of those who believed that Revival was bad, I felt the urge to apologize to Em on behalf of all the naysayers

Honestly, this song just gets you hype. I don't understand the hate on the Revival album at all. It also shows just how aware Eminem is of his connection to his fans. He raps a lot about pain, and going through hard times, and being able to play his songs and relate helps so many people. And he knows that it does. That's part of why I think Revival is so good. I think it's going to end up being an album that fans love for its relatability and how deep he got in it.

This is my fav track I'm 2nd half of his career.. early ish like Way I am..will never move.. Idgof what anyone says, Revival can't be trash just on this track a lone. It has everything & that 3rd verse is just fing insane... Plus, this is literally him predicting the future again . This was the warning b4 Kamakize with Chloroseptic remix as a hint.... He's only competing against himself..

I said the same shit....Believe is so good.....its makes the album better than "garbage".....or "trash"....got a theory....everyone used their social platform to blast before even hearing cuz the track list and features showed the potential for every other rapper to say if he comes back.....I don't have a chance....how many rappers made it during Em hiatus......if he come back and is Gr8er than ever.....they all screwed....better to say it's trash in advance.....industry is GRIMEY.....also....this will go down as one of his best albums...in history of HIP HOP.....they'll be saying artist meets perfection of Art....IMO
