The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

@@robertmitchell-tv5yfeven without the Bible we believers still believe. This thing is spiritual. Not carnal. That’s why scientists can’t understand the scriptures. Nor will anyone else who doesn’t believe. It takes faith. If God entered this world to show himself then he has to pick a point in history to do so. @@robertmitchell-tv5yf do we really know who wrote any book ever? Seems to me, we only know who says they wrote a book. I’ve never watched someone write an entire book. But I generally trust who I am told wrote the book. It doesn’t matter as much as what they say and who they are…for instance, if a witness to the events of Christ wrote a book detailing what happened, but I don’t know exactly who it is but the book is trustworthy in its content…that would matter a lot more than being able to prove their name. However, since we have names of the books such as “the gospel of Luke” it seems pretty obvious who wrote it even if it can’t be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.

You don't need to study a lot to preach the gospel. The gospel is pretty straight forward. Just preach what you know. Preach the words of Jesus. You could just recite sermon on the mount over and over. Just doing that is better then doing nothing. It will at least start getting you more comfortable with the humility that comes with preaching. The humility is the hardest thing to learn. If confronted with questions that you can't answer, don't answer them. If you feel the call don't ignore it.

@@robertmitchell-tv5yf anyone can have hope in its basic definition because hope is a desire for a specific outcome. The hope I’m talking about is one that accompanies belief in God and offers peace and more specifically peace in times of tragedy or helpless situations. The kind that even if you are desiring a specific outcome and it doesn’t work out, there’s a peace of knowing that it happened for a purpose, even if you can’t see it now or ever. Butterfly effect. The kind of hope that a non theist can give is more like encouragement but it seems situational. For example, I wouldn’t turn to an atheist for hope if my family died in an accident or if someone was seriously ill. What could he/she offer besides, “well, maybe the RNG (chaos) of universal events will bounce back in your favor”? That part would probably make me laugh, which would make me feel a bit better, but it wouldn’t offer hope or peace. I hope that makes sense. Just outta curiosity and hypothetically speaking, what would you say to a person that suffered a tragedy to give them hope?

@@Theo_Skeptomai No, they mean how hardened some people's hearts are to God. Because despite being presented with totally rational answers to their questions - that is, being presented evidence gathered from observation and logical thinking - many people still won't look at it with an open heart, whether it is out of pride or because of the lies they tell themselves in order for them to keep living a life they'd rather live without the existence of God. Btw you can think rationally and believe in God. In fact, some people can only find God through logical thinking. But you actually need to start thinking hard instead of suggesting only gullible people believe in God.

@onesimonly7423 Жыл бұрын
@@bonnie43uk What is the definition of "supernatural"? Let's look at it: "(of a manifestation or event) attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature". Now, believing in God is a matter of faith. And faith is believing in something that you cannot see. Therefore, I cannot prove anything, but there is evidence that God is real. Again, not proof, but evidence. It's being talked about in this very video. Let's keep in mind the definition that I provided you above. Based on it, I'd like to challenge your thinking with a similar matter: How could you ever prove that love is real? As far as I know, science cannot explain love. But I bet you do believe it is real. You can observe how people behave when they are in love. You can see how love produces the decisions they make to benefit the ones they love, especially when they themselves don't benefit from those decisions. Like a parent sacrificing themselves for their child, thus denying their own instincts to survive. Having real love for a person will have a visible, significant impact on your life. But to say that someone who doesn't believe in love needs tangible proof that it exists in order for them to believe it does, is nonsense. The only thing you can do to support the existence of love, is point towards the evidence. And the evidence clearly shows love does, in fact, exist. So, is it rational to believe in love without evidence? Not at all. Yet, it is rational to believe in love because there is evidence that supports its existence. Then, is it rational to believe in God without evidence? Not at all. Yet, I would argue that there is evidence out there that God exists, so it is totally rational to believe He exists, based on the evidence that points towards Him. However, I notice you make use of the word "credible". "Credible" means "able to be believed" or "convincing". You’re already biased, based on the way you formulate your question. Because if the criteria for a piece of evidence to be true is that you can believe it is, then it won't matter whether it is or isn’t valid. In other words, if you're presented with evidence that God exists but you don't believe the evidence to be credible, does that really mean that God doesn't exist? Or does it mean you don’t accept this piece of evidence to be true, therefore God can’t exist?

@@Theo_Skeptomai Alright first point: The "Give Me An Answer" series is about having an intellectual conversation by using logic. Cliffe engages students and tries to get his point across by challenging their thinking. Second point: Cliffe does bring forth evidence but does not go into details for each piece of evidence he presents, otherwise, all the episodes would be hours long. If you're interested in the evidence, you had best look it up for yourself if you're not satisfied/don't agree with what he has to say. Third and last point: you're going to tell me you watched all his videos and even after being disappointed every time from the lack of a single valid piece of evidence (according to you), you're still here watching and criticizing Cliffe and christians in the comment section? Either you're jealous that people have found God and you still haven't figured out whether he's even real or not. Or you still think, in your heart, that there's a tiny possibility that God may be real, like that thought you can't get out of your head. I say, keep looking. Never stop seeking God. God is trying to get your attention, I'm sure of it. Forget logic and what you think can or cannot be real. Finding God, and way more importantly, finding Jesus, is the best decision you could ever make.

@@onesimonly7423I watch many Cliffe videos with the objective to learn and understand different perspectives. I do think there is a God or creator but not one that is biblical, and I grew up in the church. Honestly, most of Cliffe arguments can be dismantled and I think he prays on people who have less experience and knowledge. First, he says light cannot come from matter or energy, yet light is literally energy. Then he tries to make an argument of having the free will to do something painful somehow means you possess the ability of freewill. Well, have you ever watched animals in the wild? Do you think when an animal attacks its prey that an altercation might occur causing pain. This is why you see lions staying low stalking their prey because they want to get a jump on its prey before it can escape or defend itself. Of course, the lion knows it could be injured during this process, yet they still hunt. A better example is when a lion is separated from its group and is attacked by a group of hyaenas, the lion will cry out calling for help, the group of lions will come to the defense of the other lion. Why would they do this if it's going to be painful; according to Cliffe argument against Pavlov then the lions would not defend the other lion because an altercation would occur causing pain. This is just a small quick example of his flawed thinking that can be dismantle. A better argument in his defense would be how do humans know what is right or wrong and this may entail free-will. The simple fact is that humans don't. Over years and years, we learned it's better to not kill people so we can live in harmony and not have every city wiped out every 50 years like in 2000BC-100AD.Only 100 years ago we literally had two world wars when Christianity and other majors religions have been at a historic high yet we still fight against each other. Ironic how the 70s and 80s with the “hippie movement “ has brought more peace than any other religion. It's better not to kill people because we can help each other. Another interview theory is the Flynn effect which states every new generation is on average more intelligent than the previous generation. Anyway, I try to see all perspectives. I think if someone wants to believe in a religious God all power to you. I believe in a God because I have felt his presence, I just don't believe in a religious one.And because I know it’s coming. What is the meaning of life without religion? The meaning of life is to suffer that’s why Jesus died on the cross, in the most pain way a person can die, it’s a parabole. That’s why during that time period the people resinated with the story because life is suffering but with that comes the ability to feel pleasure and happiness and to live a life that is meaningful to those around you and your community, state, country and world. Anyway take care and good luck on your journey. I will see y’all in the afterlife when we all become one ❤.

@onesimonly7423 Жыл бұрын
@@JonahJayTaylor Hi there! You said "The meaning of life is to suffer that’s why Jesus died on the cross, in the most pain way a person can die, it’s a parabole." The meaning of life is not meant for suffering. How come there's good in the world but the meaning of life isn't to enjoy it? You believe in a god. Do you believe this god to be perfect? I believe in the God of the bible. God is perfect. God being a perfect creator, He creates life that reflects just that: perfection (being perfectly good). If God isn't perfect, then He's not God. Now look at us, are we perfect? Obviously not. If we were, there wouldn't be any bad things happening. There would only be good things in the world. But it is not so. There are also bad things in the world. You say "without religion, the meaning of life is to suffer" but that's not it. It should be "without God, the meaning of life is to suffer" and that place exists, it's called "Hell". It is life without God, so without perfection and thus without any goodness. A life with only bad things would be undeniably painful. But in this life, there aren't only bad things. There are also good things. If the true meaning of life really is to suffer, in other words, if life was designed specifically for us to suffer, it doesn't make sense that the bad in the world would make us able to feel good things. If life is for suffering, there is no good. If you intend for people to live in darkness, you don't create light for them. Yet there is darkness and there is light. The light exists so that we can see how bad living in the darkness feels like. Not the other way around. And perhaps the most important thing to address is: Jesus' death wasn't a parabole. The event of his death is to be taken as a witness account. If you read the 4 Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, it is obvious it was not a "story" for people to resonate with. And the first Christians would not have died painful deaths themselves just to defend a "story". Would you be ready to die for the sake of people believing in a mere story? I sure would not. I would die, though, for Jesus Christ who bled and died on the cross, and who rose from the dead 3 days later. But I wouldn't die just for that. I would die for Jesus because, in his unconditional love for me (for human kind), He laid down His life to save me from eternal separation from God, which I deserve, based on my naturally sinful nature. God saves anyone that cries out to Jesus and puts their trust in Him.

If you're speaking of the Bible, men wrote the Bible. No one is saying that a fiery finger came down and scribbled it out. That is nonsense. It was divinely inspired, definitely. Just as Shakespeare, whoever he/she was, wrote his plays deeply inspired by God given creativity. Sunlight and dirt will destroy them both, as everything on earth. But they will not and cannot destroy the divine spirit. That's the whole point in a nutshell.

I know because I wasn't living at the time twenty five minutes in total. I know I was not in control. My soul was getting tossed around and experiencing horrible things, In the end, I know it was Jesus that said "leave him alone. It's not his time" because when I looked at him , I felt peace. And In the same turn, we will answer for what we have done and I can only pray for gives me and I'm trying really card end. Even if I wasn't a born again, I would have to go to Jesus because he's the only one that really has proved myself in my eyes and in my soul. Please people, it's 1 second after you close your eyes for the final time, it's tooplease in the name of God and Jesus. Please give Jesus and peace of chance. I have to go with. There is only one way and that only makes sense. There's no 6 ways to do about anything. You do right or wrong same with your soul, especially with your soul. That's the most valuable thing that you possess losing. That would be such a tragedy. And that's why God cry is for us and the only reason he would. Everything else is our choice and he has to watch spirit that is pure and loving. Once you call him, you will feel him working your life. And that little voice in your head. You don't know, it's not an evil one. Because he said you will know it's me. God bless you. And may only good happen to you.❤😊❤

If you have repented, you are forgiven and no longer need to rehearse past sin. The Bible says that if we confess our sins that He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God does not remember repented sin. Isaiah 43:25 - I, yes I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake and remembers your sins no more. 1 Peter 3:18 - For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit. You are dead to sin once you accept Christ. Now you have the Holy Spirit to help you along the way. Fill yourself with the Word of God. It’s is life and health to all your flesh. And share the gospel unto good works. The Bible says that your good works will not go unnoticed. You store up treasures and rewards in heaven when we do the work unto the Lord. 1) Some-thing can only come into existence out of a state of no-thing. Otherwise some-thing couldn’t be anything else than every-thing. The state of no-thing on the other hand has the potential to manifest every-thing. Therefore, some-thing and no-thing are of equal value. Not surprisingly the same result is obtained in mathematics but I prefer my own thought via a philosophical approach. Thinking for yourself has proven to be a great way to keep devils, angels, goblins, leprechauns and god(s) at a distance, but that aside. 2) There are good reasons to compare the coming into existence of universes with something we all enjoyably know: ejaculations. Most spermatozoa are destined for the drain and only one amongst the million losses viable. We are living in one of the universes viable for life, probably amongst many failed or disabled universes; hence the absolutely not miraculous fine tuning of our cosmic surroundings. We’re lucky and we are translating our luck, a very common human characteristic, into pride, prejudice and the preposterous idea that a super being is overseeing each of us and sad or happy depending on the position of our hands above or below the sheets. 3) So, the absolute beginning from the very first universe must have started from a very fine tilting point in a state where there was no difference between some- and no-thing. Quantum mechanics has learned us that energy can be borrowed for such a short time that the balance between the two states isn’t affected. Unimaginable stretches of time and evolution have done the rest in a trial, error and rarely, but in view of the incredible time lapses, unavoidable success way. We perceive the end result like a magic trick. Conclude that the pigeon out of the head is pure wizardry until the magician explains every step of the astonishing experience. 4) if an all powerful god existed, why in the name of the one no one should believe in, would that being make the billion of years detour instead of just creating a made and ready universe? Unless you reject the fact, no, no longer the theory, but the fact of evolution. If that’s the case, then you are worshipping a god created or accepted out of pure and maybe even wilful ignorance. 5) if god existed there would be no need to prove his existence because he / she / it would be perceived or at the very least be experienced by believers and non believers alike and since that’s clearly not the case it’s safe to say that god(s) are man made and not the other way around. That’s also why there are approximately, at present, 4.300 religions with matching super bff to suit different cultures, regions and tribes. 6) Seneca, ancient Roman philosopher: ‘for common people religion is true, for wise men false and useful for rulers’. The story of Jesus, his miracles and resurrection Ask 1000 followers of Kenneth Copeland if he can heal the sick, paralysed and disabled. Well, you know the answer. Ask 1000 followers of Copeland if he could resurrect someone from the dead. You know the answer Ask 1000 followers of Copeland if they witnessed a resurrection performed by Copeland and at least 100 will testify on their life and the life of their children that they witnessed a resurrection done by one of the biggest spiritual con men in our day and age. Should give you some idea about the value of testimonials in Jesus time. People turn their wishes into beliefs and from that principle all religions are born.

@jrabbit4404
@jrabbit4404 Жыл бұрын
Expectation has nothing to do with what you observe. You live in a 3 dimensional galaxy that contains life forms. The probability of that just “happening”, aka “life from non-life” is an insane form of thinking in my view. All signs based on my physical observation of my life & this universe is that someone, or something created it, from nothing. A God, or “highly intelligent and all powerful” being. I think God fits the mold of precisely that intelligent design of the universe. In the book of Genesis, it was written “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬ If humans are created in an “image” I personally view this word as “space time” itself if you want to collude scientific basis as well. “Space time” was introduced first by Einsteins rough theory for special relativity, refined later to general relativity (our current best understand of gravity/reality of our 3D world). Also - the “big bang” is the best theory on the creation of the universe, which also points to something, a singularity, that exploded to create: time, matter, energy. We know the universe is roughly 14 billion years old (at least) from cosmic radiation. I can go on about evolution & why it does not make sense either. Do you believe we just exist because we “do”? Because that is what’s known as a circular argument fallacy.

I am trying to share the word with a very good friend of mine. She is an incredibly kind, sweet, generous person. She is objectively very good, everyone who meets her loves her. One of her big questions is, why will people who are very good, and spend their lives trying to do good (possibly in service of another religion), go to hell just because they don’t believe in Jesus? Or rather, how can that be justified? I grew up Christian and in church, so the short and sweet answer of the only way to heaven is through Christ makes sense and works for me. But she seems to need a little more. Could someone please either point me to a video of Cliffe talking about this, or give me some answers to share with her?

Hi Samuel. I am not a Bible scholar by any means but I know what the Bible teaches. All of mankind is given two lights. The light of creation that we all experience as children when discovering the awe of the universe and it tells us God made all this happen. The second is the light of conscience. We know lying is bad without anyone telling us. It is written on our hearts by God. Most people ignore God in pursuit of their own will in life. That is a trend all throughout the OT. If someone loves God with all their heart, mind and soul, and is willing to live for God's will, God will reveal himself to them. He might use you to do it. Explain the life of Jesus. Who he was, what he did and said. I do not believe any objective person can look at Jesus and say he is not worthy to have the highest praise for his teachings. If we were all more like him we would be in a much better world. You can go through all the prophecies that foretold of his coming. Even in my generation foretold prophecy has come to pass. Jews were returned to their homeland just as foretold in the Bible. The only people in the entire history of civilization to do so. That never would have happened, and history would have been much different had Jesus not come when he did.

As far as all this happening by chance or accident, i always pose it like this: Do you know why we have a solar eclipse? (the answer will always be something as simple as, because the moon passes between the earth and the sun). To which i say, "yes, but why does the eclipse happen. And no one knows. So I continue, "The reason solar eclipses happen is because the diameter of the sun is about 400 times that of the moon, but also approximately 400 times farther away from the earth as the moon." Meaning, those 3 huge bodies in space, that are of different sizes, are placed so perfectly far away from each other, that they actually seem the same size, and that did not happen by accident. Someone did that, and the only someone who could have done that was God. Then you can see people start thinking. The stupid ones will still deny.

The characters of Yahweh and Jesus as I read them off the page in the Bible come across to me as complete opposites. You have Yahweh who wants to wipe his enemies off the face of the earth, eg: Midianites, Caananites, Amalekites, etc. Whereas Jesus is telling us to love and forgive our enemies. How do you go about solving that contradiction? Attempting to wipe out an entire race of people is called genocide last time I looked. But I believe those stories came from us, not from God, just like every other alternative Holy book.. eg: i don't think you believe in any of those other Gods, yet they all have what their believers call "Holy Scripture" I've said before to you that if you and I were born and raised as Muslims in a remote part of Pakistan, it's highly likely both of us would be followers of Islam now. I can accept that, but something tells me you can't accept that.

I can only go by the text the shows Jesus as being God. He was the only one to have healed anyone of their affirmities during that time & also forgiving sins. No one can heal raise people from the dead & cure them of the incurable unless you are God & Jesus Christ was doing this exact thing. His existence was proven to be real even by secular scholars.

We have to remember that God is a God of love as well as equally wrathful. God punished those nations you mentioned after repeated warnings to stop sacrificing their babies at the alters of their gods which his people Israel began to adopt until they too were punished. God was very loving in the OT as he told his people that they would live in abundance, even had a land chosen specifically for them that had everything they needed & never lack for anything as long as they obeyed his commandments & did not sin against him & even when they eventually did sin against him, he gave them grace by pleading to them to repent & they defiantly chose not too. God then sent prophet after prophet to warn the people of coming judgement if they did not stop their rebellion & they ended up killing those prophets & continuing in their sin until God had enough & decided to bring wrath on them. Jesus came in the form of a man much like how the OT prophets came. Preaching repentance because the day is coming when he will judge the world in righteousness & it will be too late to repent on that day. And what did the people choose to do even to him during that time? Yup, you guessed it, they killed him too just like their ancestors killed the prophets that were sent in the OT.

You see, people of that subject (I am not calling them what they are because YT censors such comments very easily) have been experiencing an enormous amount of persecution and even the death penalty for millennia at least in the Bible-based nations. Yet lately, the majority of people have begun to believe that such behavior is innate and harmless and therefore should not be illegal anyhow, and even more than that, people of such behavior should be compensated for all the persecution they received for so long. So, today, when somebody says that such behavior is wrong, is considered a bigot and hater.

It’s not about my contention but instead about what the word of God says. God does not tolerate homosexual relationships, it’s in his nature. So yes, if your niece persists in her open rebellion against God & does not repent, according to His word, He will throw her in hell when it’s her time to leave this world no matter how kind or morally good she may be. I’m sorry that you seem to be struggling to comprehend God’s character but you have to understand that His thoughts are not our thoughts nor his ways our ways. God does not have our finite human logic so what seems to be morally harmless to us is extremely serious to Him & is punishable by death. That’s the beauty of it is that God can not be swayed by human reasoning or emotion. Do you understand this?

As i said in that comment, I absolutely understand what the Bible says. My niece is happy and content with her partner, they have a very loving relationship, why would God want to stop someone from loving another person, regardless of gender?, Not a single person in our extended family condemns them for being in a loving relationship, quite the opposite, we've all embraced their love for one another. What would you do if your son or daughter came out as gay ronwan?, would you be understanding, or condemn them and tell them they're hellbound? As I said, i appreciate any thoughts on this. @@bonnie43uk Asking why would God destroy someone who is in a loving gay relationship is like asking someone why they like vanilla ice cream… according to scripture it is God’s preference to not approve of homosexuality. He simply does not like nor consider that morally the same as heterosexuality. Jesus did speak on the issue of homosexuality several times in the Bible. We have to remember that Jesus is God so when God destroyed Sodom & Gamorrah, Jesus was in full support & responsible for its destruction. When God says in Leviticus 18 that homosexuality is an abomination, since again, Jesus is God & all of scripture is inspired by God, he was the one who wrote that piece of scripture as well as 1 Corinthians 6:9 that says homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Jesus also said this: Matthew 19:5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? This verse, like many others support heterosexuality only. Not one mention throughout any portion of scripture supports homosexuality.

Whenever this preacher talks, he always implies that animals have no soul, no free will, and no consciousness. He essentially is saying that all of God's creation is materialistic in nature, and that only humans are worthwhile. But Genesis doesn't write it that way. God saw that everything was good, even before he created man. He actually blesses the animals and in Genesis 1:22 tells them to 'Be fruitful and multiply'. Clearly God loves the animals in Genesis. But more tellingly, in Revelation 5:13, all the animals and sea creatures on earth and in heaven sing the glory of God the Father and Son. But how can they do that if have no consciousness, no free will and no soul? Because free will, consciousness, and soul are given to all living creatures. But you'd never know that listening to this preacher.
@vincentjeremy709

Yeah, kinda the reason why animals do weird things to propagate... God commanded them to do so. However he's not belittling other creations. He's simply stating that, we human beings, are more capable of doing complex things which are far more advanced than most creations. He never mentioned that animals were mindlessly living on their own. Going back, we are capable of morality, theory and science, rationality, mind, reason, to love in every possible way (mind, heart and soul). We can't see any other animal capable of doing these... Now does that mean they are not special? No way! By no means. They are wonderful creatures created for the glory of God. 😊

I'll be happy to take a shot at the question of where our sense of morality comes from? In a nutshell, we are social creatures, it's in our best interest to look out for one another, it benefits us as a society to care for one another, the old adage "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" is a good example, you even see this with chimps, it's a social trait. If humans took a more selfish attitude and only looked out for themselves we would have gone extinct millions of years ago. Early humans were far more effective in a group. cooperation is the key. It's where we developed things like empathy and compassion. That's the short answer. 🙂
