I don’t know if you’ve ever been there, but cave city and Glasgow has a bbq restaurant called Bucky Bees, the loaded potato is unbelievable! I thought it looked like a place you might like, I eat there often.

Wow, Cliffside restaurant. I used to ride along with my pals, my bicycle and hang out there when I used to live in Frankfort. Jo Mann used to be the cook there and drove a 69 or 70 GTO with a hurst shifter. It was a bad car. Joe was a really nice guy. He wore white t-shirts, had a black, duck tail style hair cut, mutton chop side burns and rolled his cigarettes in his sleeve. We thought he was the coolest guy in Frankfort. In the summer, we would walk across the street and swim in the Kentucky river. There used to be a big tall old sycamore tree that had a rope and chain attached to the top. Supposedly it had been tied up there since the 37 flood. I'm sure it's gone by now. But we would grab that rope, bring it up to the very top of that edge of the hill where there was an old stone wall and swing out from it to jump in the river. Certain times of the year, the Kentucky river would become what we would call pickle green. You could see schools of minnows swimming in it and we would haul out a big rock when we would swing out over the river and try to drop it on the school of fish. We used to say we were bombing Japanese and German submarines. This would've been in the early 70s.

Very familiar neighborhood. 'Thought I might see someone I recognized. If you look hard you can see the Capitol Parking garage which extends over the road. I parked there for 20 years. If you can make your way up top to the Capitol, the river view from the upper/ground level deck of the parking structure is great.

Barry, if you go to Columbus, IN you need to go to Zaharakos Ice Cream Parlor (been around since 1900). They serve fountain sodas from a 1904 onyx soda fountain. Cool place.

Now to let you know I lived 40 plus years in Central Florida in Deland, Fla That's 21 miles West of Daytona. I was a banker for many years. I ended up in Jacksonville to be near my son and grand kids. You know how that works I'm sure.

Ryan is right about Brown county/Nashville Indiana, a good day trip for you, Melissa, and the kids one Saturday. It is like a miniature Gatlinburg Tn with all the shops and restaurants in a small town. Worth the hour or so trip to Columbus/Bloomington exit off of I-65.
