Awesome food review yet again! And well worth the wait for another civil war history lesson with the Great with a capitol G Professor Goodall! Hands down one of my favorite topics in history. Blessings to you and your family with the upcoming holidays.

Strangely enough, over the weekend, we purchased a cast iron plant stand in Cox Creek. It belonged to the grandmother of the owner. It turned out her family owned the Maple Hill property and operated the foster children's home at that location. She told us the stand had always been there from her first memories and her grandma topped it with flowers. It came with the family when they moved from Maple Hill. Really enjoyed this one, Barry, and the food looked great. The Civil War history was excellent. History, no matter what, should be embraced and not feared or held with disdain. Thanks!

The Baxter's!!!!! Yes, I am sure they told you their parents owned it from about 1978-1988, give or take. They ran a Boys Foster home out of here. I would have loved to have known them. The daughter and granddaughter have shared letters with us from the boys that went through here, sharing with the Baxter's just how much of an impact they had on their lives.

Maybe you didn’t watch the video? It talks about abolitionists Harriet Beecher Stowe, Henry Ward Beecher and John Brown. If you don’t know who they are then you need to know. I also highlight an account of a young boy, Union Colonel that was in command of two black cavalry regiments during “Stoneman’s Raid in Southwest Virginia”. That young boy Colonel laid down his life for those under his command and I tell how the black men he led fought so gallantly to recover their Colonel’s body after he fell in battle. Now, if you refuse to be educated in African-American history, that’s up to you. Have a …..Blessed Day.

Wow, Cliffside restaurant. I used to ride along with my pals, my bicycle and hang out there when I used to live in Frankfort. Jo Mann used to be the cook there and drove a 69 or 70 GTO with a hurst shifter. It was a bad car. Joe was a really nice guy. He wore white t-shirts, had a black, duck tail style hair cut, mutton chop side burns and rolled his cigarettes in his sleeve. We thought he was the coolest guy in Frankfort. In the summer, we would walk across the street and swim in the Kentucky river. There used to be a big tall old sycamore tree that had a rope and chain attached to the top. Supposedly it had been tied up there since the 37 flood. I'm sure it's gone by now. But we would grab that rope, bring it up to the very top of that edge of the hill where there was an old stone wall and swing out from it to jump in the river. Certain times of the year, the Kentucky river would become what we would call pickle green. You could see schools of minnows swimming in it and we would haul out a big rock when we would swing out over the river and try to drop it on the school of fish. We used to say we were bombing Japanese and German submarines. This would've been in the early 70s.
