Campus Tip: Train strict form pull ups on a regular bar or pair of gymnast rings, no need for campus rungs. This is essentially what a campus is, except on climbing holds finger strength becomes a part of the move. The important part is to have clean reps, so if you can only do one that's perfectly fine. If you can't get one then use a chair or step to get into the highest position and do the negative. Eventually you'll be able to get 5 clean reps. At this point you can start to do weighted pull ups! Some people may advise to swing a little bit to gain some momentum, but you won't have much control when going for worse holds. Good luck!

I LOVE the music in your videos. Seriously, it's you and other LA-based climbers (but mainly you) that made me start a Spotify playlist called LA Vibes and I listen to it all the time (I'm from WI, where the vibes are... different). Anyways just your music taste is awesome and thank you for more song recommendations to add to my playlist! Also yes that's a lot of things going on in your life, sheesh! I hope it all works out :) I'm also moving soon (but like a baby move, I'm still in college) and it's full of variables and stress. You've got this!

CAMPUS TIP: train your lock offs if you wanna do it statically. use momentum like in the monkey bars and don't let your body stop so you can move more freely. Hope these help :)

@@JenniferLangen when using momentum, I would try not to "fall" into the fully streched arm. that puts a lot of stress on the shoulder and ellbow, ouch!! also, when you cant hold it properly there is a risk of shoulder dislocation if the rotator cuff is not strong enough. so be a little careful when using momentum up and down I would say

I ussually watch clinbers who are better than me for inspiration but your commitment and general percieved positivty is contagous and i couldnt care wether its in a climbing video or anything else. Please put your mental health first but if you can try to post 1 a week at least. Your channel has so much potential!!! Thx for brightening a 15 year olds day!!!

Tip for campusing is to treat it like a deadpoint. You somehow need to generate enough momentum that you can reach the "hover state" where for a moment you're weightless and can freely grap the next hold. Normally when deadpointing you would use all your limbs to generate the momentum, but when campusing you either need to kip with your lower body or pull more explosively. So the best way to improve your campusing would be training pulling strength. Weighted pull-ups/explosive pull-ups. I'd aim for 65%-75% of your 1 rep max (for example if your bodyweight is 60kg and you can do 1 with +10kg then 70% of your 1RM is 49kg so -11kg taken off with a pulley or doing lat pulldowns with 49kg) and do 8-10 reps and 3-5 sets with 3-5 min rest in between.

Glad to see another vid! For beginner campus tips, I'd work pullups until you can do a very slow and controlled one, then work lock-offs by doing typewriters on the bar. It should give you additional stability when you release the off hand. Good luck!
@ewicexclamationpoint4 жыл бұрын
Oh, also if you don't mind messy campus technique, you can try and campus by releasing the offhand in the middle of a pull-up motion, so you already have upward momentum going into the actual campus. Be careful, watch your shoulders.

In the fully "pulled up" position (palms towards chest is easier) try to strech one arm as far as you can and holding onto the other. like pushing the arm away. weird to describe, but you know what I mean, right ;) Also pull ups suck, but help a lot (sadly)...

@nbka8rs4 жыл бұрын
There's marking tape you can use (just different colored tape to mark the boulder problem). The cheaper way to do it is to just buy painters tape at home depot of different colors and use that + masking tape. You can set a few different problems that way until you get better at memorizing them. I do that for my home board for other climbers, that and a 5 dollar laser pointer go a very long way!

You should try Loctite on all the bolts to prevent them from loosening.
@JenniferLangen4 жыл бұрын
i'll try that out, thanks so much!
@michaelpetepiece45664 жыл бұрын
@@JenniferLangen Loctite is probably a bad idea. The holds get loose because the t-nuts get compressed into the wood by the weight of the climber. Even with loctite the holds would still spin around the bolt. Tightening bolts is pretty much unavoidable on a new wall. After a while the t-nuts will be compressed into the wood about as much as possible and you won't have to re-tighten as often (but you'll still need to do it occasionally). PS love the channel.
